chevy86 2,683 Report post Posted January 15, 2022 Congratulations to Ken Kelso and the team for Levante's Telegraph win. Hopefully it will expunge some of the residual bitter taste of the disgraceful Magic Briar relegation at the hands of a dreadful JCA team that was led by someone who still has too much say in our industry. JMO of course. rdytdy, kdt, Black Kirrama and 3 others
scooby3051 10,695 Report post Posted January 15, 2022 Great win by an obviously tough as nails mare after two colic surgeries...she certainly deserved a Group 1...congrats to all concerned. kdt, jack, chevy86 and 4 others
mckenzie 600 Report post Posted January 15, 2022 Good to see her get a Group 1 after jumping brilliantly. If she can keep doing that and put herself in the race she's going to be hard to beat in the future. chevy86, Baz (NZ), rdytdy and 1 other
Ohokaman 5,763 Report post Posted January 15, 2022 Very courageous win - she was a sitting duck that last bit and they ran 1.6.18…phenomenal time. Pegasus 9, mckenzie, chevy86 and 2 others
gubellini 3,923 Report post Posted January 15, 2022 Great training effort by Ken and Bev Kelso. Her time of 1.6.18 eclipsed the previous Race Record (and NZ Record ) of 1.6.51 set in 1999 by Bawalaksana. Her time could well be a world record on Turf. JOT 47 Report post Posted January 15, 2022 Great ride by Ryan Elliot. Took control of the race after the jump, put pressure on the field at the turn and relied on the mares toughness to get home. mckenzie

That's why the rule is an ass, joke, call it what you want. The fact is; he broke the rule, gained an unfair advantage and beat them......wrong, wrong, wrong. This is just one of the reasons the game is now stuffed and that's because it's run by idiots all on the take! Charlie Bukowski 408 Report post Posted January 16, 2022 Interesting scenario if Levante was beaten by say Eptimum , Ocean Point or Live Drama under the same circumstances, would we be viewing this case a lot more vehemently ? This is going to blow up badly one day. What if one of Roch'N'Horses connections at home rings through and says Elliot broke the whip rules so put in a protest. If they are going to live by this rule why didn't the stipes blow the siren or is it something that's looked at well after the race ? Maybe all clear shouldn't be given until all the placegetters whip count is in ? Just seems it's such a half arsed rule. The big tough stipes suspending and fining jockeys well after the race because they can , yet so far off the ball when it comes to real time. If Ken got beat and someone told him to protest over whip strikes, the stipes and RIB would shit their pants. From now on ,if you get beaten in a relatively tight finish , I'd ask to view the film and stipes can count the whip strikes . This is going to end badly one day. And it won't be in a R65 for the lucrative sum of $12k Baz (NZ), Leggy and Talk1
arjay 447 Report post Posted January 18, 2022 The whip rule is going to change very soon. Does that mean Elliot then that he can appeal?, the fine would be the entire riding fee?

You can only expect further breaches to occur whatever the rule is.
