Peter R S 412 Report post Posted September 27, 2021 Since beginning racing 2 seasons ago, my 6yo gelding has been plagued by bad draws. Are these the worst of all time? From the first start 14/14 11/11 8/11 9/13 5/13 12/12 5/13 a win! 13/16 12/17 14/14 7/12 10/14 8/15 7/11 13/13 6/14 8/12 another win! 7/12 12/12 14/14 It's getting desperate, but what can I do? scoobysnacks 386 Report post Posted September 27, 2021 Depends on where it has been racing. Drawing wide isn't so bad if you have a good jockey. Drawing 1 is a negative for most.
Memphis3 1,263 Report post Posted September 27, 2021 Take him to Whanganui mid winter. It’s beneficial to be wide. They come down the outside rail in the straight . But honestly you’ve had a poor run alright Ask any good jockey and he will take one all day. Black Kirrama
Peter R S 412 Report post Posted September 27, 2021 Been there, tried that, ran 2nd from barrier 6. The winner drew the outside! Black Kirrama, Memphis3 and Baz (NZ) 1

poundforpound 745 Report post Posted September 27, 2021 Wide draws are a big advantage on heavy tracks….count your blessings
Nerula 1,403 Report post Posted September 27, 2021 We have only had dry trackers and got a series of wide draws at one stage. I called the Trainer Wide Draw ----=-==-. He didn't think that was very funny. But if the horse is a good one and its not a short tight track wide draws can keep the horse out of trouble. Horses for courses, is true. Peter R S 412 Report post Posted September 27, 2021 Blessed? More like cursed.. The latest was 14 from the Hastings 1600M start, virtually impossible. Draws 11,12,13 were the last 3 home.
