JJ Flash 2,135 Report post Posted September 15, 2021 Racing Victoria to introduce compulsory vax policy Racing participants in Victoria, including jockeys, will need to be vaccinated. Picture: Racing Photos By Gilbert Gardiner 11:19pm • 14 September 2021 5 Comments Racing Victoria has made Covid-19 vaccination mandatory for all staff and participants, including trainers, jockeys, stable staff and stewards, from next month. The condition of entry will apply to all Victorian racecourses and training centres, as well as RV headquarters at Flemington and offices. Participants must be at least partially vaccinated by Caulfield Cup Day – October 16. It comes as two thirds (67 per cent) of participants, who completed an industry survey last week, identified as fully or partially vaccinated. A further 15 per cent said they intended to be vaccinated, while 10 per cent remained undecided. Eight per cent signalled their initial desire not to be vaccinated. RV received 1590 responses to the survey sent to 3436 participants. The Australian Trainers‘ Association, Victorian Jockeys’ Association (VJA), the three metropolitan Clubs, Country Racing Victoria and RV media businesses were all consulted on the new policy. All RV licensed participants and staff must be fully vaccinated by November 27, bar those with a lawful exemption. Owners wishing to access the mounting yard will also be subject to the vaccination policy. While other major sporting codes, including the AFL and NRL, heavily promote vaccination it is not yet compulsory for athletes, coaches and game day personnel. RV chief executive Giles Thompson on Tuesday thanked participants for their ongoing efforts and compliance of biosecurity protocols to help racing combat the pandemic the past 18 months. “Unlike other sports, racing operates on a year-round daily basis with a highly mobile workforce, so it is therefore imperative we do our utmost to protect the health and safety of our workforce,” Thompson said. “The advice from our chief medical officer and our risk assessment has determined mandatory Covid-19 vaccination is the right decision for the health and safety of our staff, participants and industry.” RV will monitor vaccination supply and retain “some” flexibility should issues arise, particularly for the younger members of the workforce. VJA executive officer Matt Hyland said: “The vast majority of our members are already vaccinated or are on the pathway to getting it done. “They realise the importance vaccination plays for their health, their livelihoods and to get back to doing the things they love like travelling.” ATA boss Andrew Nicholl said: “We understand there will be individuals who will be uncomfortable with today’s announcement. “These individuals must also acknowledge that Racing Victoria has a responsibility to protect the racing community and racing product in this state. “There is no doubt the circumstances that exist in Victoria …. are challenging for everyone … the ATA believes the mandate announced today by RV is a responsible action at this time.”

meomy 971 Report post Posted September 16, 2021 We would like to see the Westernized Racing Fraternity step up like did with the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004 where a percentage of Stakes were donated and collections were held for those who were impacted with their State of Emergency. How about donating your vaccination doses to those in need in places like South Africa , or to the Aboriginal /Torres Strait Island people ? We often get told that Black Lives also Matter and in South Africa as one example, there has been less than 5 % of their population vaccinated. It's also where they don't have the same standards of Living, sanitation and housing or fresh water. It's unbelievable that those most in need of Healthcare and vaccinations are going without. To those of you in Australia and NZ, take on the challenge and get the ball rolling like we did with the Boxing Day Tsunami. We have seen so much fresh produce and meat and milk thrown to waste in Westernized countries because of this unprecedented situation we all find ourselves in, it's also one way of ensuring Racing leads by example and show compassion for those less fortunate
meomy 971 Report post Posted September 16, 2021 It would be interesting to do some research on those who chose not to answer the survey or have chosen not to get a vaccine. Have their decisions been made bc of the way they or those around them have been denied the right to see their own families including internationally or in Aged Care, have lost loved ones who were in Aged Care and were not able to say farewell or have a funeral with them in person, if they have had any form of Medical or Dental Treatment delayed, lost loved ones to suicides bc of the failures to consider the Mental Health impacts of Lock-downs, known people who have lost their businesses through ongoing lock-downs - think Restaurants, the Meat and Milk industries, fruit and Vegetable and flower growers, and other retailers all of whom are a wider part and inclusion of the Wider Circular economy of the Racing industry? There's only so much 'You Must' rammed into a persons head before it becomes To Heck, I've had a gutsful, don't tell me what to do and how to live my life. Then there's a fair and reasonable balanced view of just what is this Virus and how it impacts on one as an individual and one's fundamental rights. The NUDGE UNIT which has spread beyond the UK,to Australia and NZ have much to answer for and need to be held to account bc unless they are this carry on will continue

Shad 1,554 Report post Posted September 17, 2021 Wont be bothering me, great excuse to not to go to the races, cafes restaurants or travel, I will be all the richer for it, it may be surprising just how many people don't want the vaccine, must be very safe though only been one fatality in our country, that we know of, and all the so called experts can't be wrong, can they. meomy, chevy86, Baz (NZ) and 1 other

They are not necessarily antivaxers Nerula--may just be people who, with particular regard to this potion, like to take personal responsibility for their own health and welfare. Let's not forget that the so-called vaccinated can also spread the virus and actually kill others, whether they are vaccinated or non-vaccinated. After all that oracle Fauci stated last year that masking is not necessary if you eat the right food, don't smoke, imbibe moderately, exercise regularly and generally have a healthy lifestyle. meomy, Huey, Baz (NZ) and 2 others

Leggy 4,076 Report post Posted September 17, 2021 As described, memory-type immune responses ensure the rapid rise of antibody titres after initial exposure to SARS-CoV-2, rendering the benefit of vaccine-induced antibody response exceedingly doubtful. Regardless, we should not assume that high antibody titres against SARS-CoV-2 will always improve the clinical outcome. With several virus families—in particular with Dengue virus, but also with coronaviruses—antibodies can aggravate rather than mitigate disease. This occurs because certain cells of the immune system take up antibody-tagged microbes and destroy them. If a virus particle to which antibodies have bound is taken up by such a cell, but it then manages to evade destruction, it may instead start to multiply within the cell. Overall, the antibody will then have enhanced the replication of the virus. Clinically, this antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) can cause a hyperinflammatory response (a “cytokine storm”) that will amplify the damage to the lungs, liver and other organs of our body. Attempts to develop vaccines to the original SARS virus, which is closely related to SARS-CoV-2, repeatedly failed due to ADE. The vaccines did induce antibodies, but when the vaccinated animals were subsequently infected with the virus, they became more ill than the unvaccinated controls (see e.g. [11]). The possibility of ADE was not adequately addressed in the clinical trials on any of the COVID-19 vaccines. It is therefore prudent to avoid the danger of inducing ADE through vaccination and instead rely on proven forms of treatment [12] for dealing with clinically severe COVID-19 disease. What an arrogant name to call a policy outfit. Orwellian? @Nerula@Chevy50@Leggyand others we have followed much of those pushing their own agendas in the UK from the beginning of last year, and were in the loop of those in the international Medical Fraternity as our lock-down came into force so have always questioned, "Why are we following firstly China, then Italy, South Korea, Wisconsin and the Abattoir cases in Victoria?" Our Medical Fraternity associate originates from South Korea and has lived in Australia the last 16 years, the words they used when NZ and Australia were been compared with 'A CASE' in those countries was one of disbelief and a few expletives popped out of their mouth. One simply cannot compare the Public or other Health of these people whose background Medical History none of us know, in totally different environments with that of any other country, hence the information we have shared here, there and elsewhere for others to learn from, speak up and hold those responsible to account. Using Helen CHU's Seattle Influenza Project as a Template for N, as Siouxsie W and others have, is simply wrong in Law and in fact for a so called Coronavirus. We have always said it's tied in with those who are involved in Cessation of Tobacco Products that have been unregulated and which the FDA as per link, are undertaking parallel to Covid19 matters. FDA makes significant Progress on Science based Public Health Application Review https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-makes-significant-progress-science-based-public-health-application-review-taking-action-over-90 Be mindful in Australia and New Zealand and other countries Smoking is Banned in Public Places which includes Racecourses. Now, have we heard our Racing Industry speak up about these alternative products consumed on Racecourses where people may passively be exposed to them and get Covid19? Have we heard our PM, Director General of Health, Pandemic Team which includes Public Health Advisors who have allowed this rubbish on our shores as Smoking Cessation Devices unregulated since they encouraged the use of them around 25 years ago? Join the dots with ongoing Criminal investigations internationally tied in with the Tobacco industry. West and his wife are in control of Nudge Unit and are in the thick of this situation trying to cover their butts, alas it's all over the internet placed their by themselves.
