Ragamuffin 122 Report post Posted September 14, 2021 What a beautiful steeplechase course, love the no need for rail & what they utilize instead. Puts Aotearoa's to shame with their paltry fences, just like Oz poor excuses for hurdles. Always a delight to see good jumps fences, horses & courses, such a pity they're all overseas. stodge 1,912 Report post Posted September 14, 2021 It is indeed. They hold meetings through the summer especially in August when they race Monday, Wednesday and Friday while the main Deauville course races Tuesdays, Thursdays and at the weekend. Deauville-Clairefontaine is about five minutes by road from Deauville-La Touques (the official name for the track which stages races like the Rothschild, Maurice de Gheest and Marois) and if you want a racing holiday, it's highly recommended. Clairefontaine has jumps races which the other Deauville track doesn't and is a much more relaxed and informal setting. I think they have both a regular steeplechase circuit and a cross-country (French cross-country chases can get a little chaotic with the jockeys not sure where they are going and loose horses here, there and everywhere). hedley
