JJ Flash 2,135 Report post Posted August 18, 2021 Best fields for ages and they are now at the mercy of Cindy and Co and their clichés. However this from the leaders at HRNZ That means tomorrow's meetings at Auckland and Winton will not go ahead and that Friday's meeting at Addington will also be cancelled however HRNZ is working with the TAB to see if this meeting could be transferred to a Saturday day meeting. HRNZ will provide an update on this later today Not sure about the latter given the politics of Saturday racing between the codes. Only time will tell

Blue 1,099 Report post Posted August 18, 2021 But apparently there is a possibility of Ruakaka gallops going ahead on Saturday but at Cambridge. Wtf is that all about?

Probably cos with current uncertainty these venues are easier for essential staff and horses to access. Racing bosses not wanting to lose too many races.......12 x at Cambridge will certainly mean stakes paid out to owners /jockeys etc with a greater pool of horses to draw on. I see Ashburton trots on Sunday moved to Addington. JJ Flash

Well Cambridge might (and it's a big 'might') be able to get fields racing by Saturday, but Ruakaka definitely won't because Auckland will still be in Level 4 by Saturday so would become a meeting for Ruakaka horses only. It's all likely to be fussing for nought anyway, as I don't see anybody lifting out of level 4 before this weekend, especially in the North Island. JJ Flash 2,135 Report post Posted August 18, 2021 19 hours ago, JJ Flash said: Not sure about the latter given the politics of Saturday racing between the codes. Game set and match to TB's and hence no Saturday racing at Addington. This from the leader though- " “We have discussed so many scenarios,” says HRNZ Chief Executive Gary Woodham, “and this is the best option all things considered.” The Ashburton Trotting Club meeting will see seven races at Addington from 10.50am on Sunday, with 10 NZ Metropolitan Club races to follow (2.18pm – 6.22pm). “It’s going to be a big long day but we are committed to making it work,” says Williams. “The key though is the alert levels,” says Woodham, “we need to be at Level 3 or better or the meeting will not go ahead.”
Dynamite 320 Report post Posted August 18, 2021 Can someone correct me if i am wrong Are Addington holding 20 races om sunday? Be fantastic if they are beamed into here as being in lockdown it will get plenty of attention and give the punters something relevant to wager on
Navitas 108 Report post Posted August 18, 2021 My understanding is 17 races @ Addington on Sunday, starting at 10.50 last race 6.22, but only if Christchurch go to level 3 or less.... john legend

Blue 1,099 Report post Posted August 20, 2021 A case in Wellington so lockdown will probably continue (announcement at 3) so no racing anywhere this weekend I'd say. JJ Flash

Funny how they continue to race in Ozzie albeit with no crowds yet they pull the pin here at every opportunity. And look at how successful Aussie, particularly NSW, has been with their strategy this time? Our racing is so pathetic these days I'm surprised anybody even notices when it's called off. Away from the little racing websites, I'm not sure anybody does. hsvman

Todays a shocker, they called off Canberra gallops. In the interim all across Ozzie states racing continues and owners win money and trainers earn money and drivers earn money and punters keep punting. All good stuff IMHO Keneperu

It drives the game in case you did not realise. Covid will come and go just like other virus's and thus life will go on both in business and in pleasure. The only questions are when will normality be resumed and how much did it cost
