JJ Flash 2,135 Report post Posted August 6, 2021 Will these comments reach the HRNZ 's new threshold for not bagging them and the code " “New Zealand racing is in a dire situation and can’t sustain this,” says Green. “So many horses are being sold it’s leaving a huge hole in our population. We can’t continue like this or we’ll end up with four horse fields and then it’s game over. “I can understand why people sell their horses - because our handicapping system doesn’t allow them to win enough money and the imbeciles here won’t look at handicapping options.” john legend, SFD and Hunter the punter 1 1
Idolmite 2,531 Report post Posted August 6, 2021 Good horses draw good crowds on course, which in turn creates atmosphere and enhances the experience. In both harness and gallops we rarely see good quality fields anymore, and even more rarely a champion. If they're not sold as a young horse, they're set to do most, if not all, of their racing in Australia, probably more so with gallopers than harness but both struggle to get me interested on a regular basis. Plus with the drain of trainers and jockeys/drivers as well, what are we left with? JJ Flash and Iraklis
2Piper 408 Report post Posted August 6, 2021 Even maidens are being sold - go from one stable to another as owners are taking the overseas offers on better horses but need somethings to replace them and hope with time (not too long), they show improvement.
