good news

Under the new arrangement, Group 1s will also be worth at least $100,000 with $50,000 for all Groups 2s, and $30,000 for all Group 3 races. Increased funding will also go to trotters and lower to middle-graded racing, and all races during the New Zealand Cup carnival at Addington will carry a minimum stake of $25,000.

It is good news but the above paragraph is all about nothing.

The $25k minimum at the Cup carnival represents no increase at all.

The minimum for the group races also same as last season apart from a couple of group 1s that were raced for 95k in Auckland

Still good  to see the lower to middle class get a rise.  Will be interesting to see how much it will equate to.

I believe the middle classes,  say rating 55 - 70 where we need a big boost is needed to make it worth owners hanging on to horses

Well spotted, this is full of shit and looks like GW was put to the sword at Racing NZ board meeting. An extra 3.1 mio when NZTAB distributions to codes went from 139 mio to 173.6. Sounds like TB's and Dogs were the big winners

Also noticed after putting stakes up earlier in the season Addington have adjusted some down this week

The FFA Trot on Friday is $ 15k .  Previously they were $17.5k

The intermediate pace is $14k. Previously these were run for $15k

Maybe just a time of year thing hopefully.

As has been said; on it's own, this increase will do nothing to stop the sale of those 2 - 5 win horse's that have reached their level here. They'll still end up in Oz where they can race every couple of weeks & earn enough to pay their way, probably more.

When will the majority of us in the middle (the battlers) get a fair crack?

If the TAB distribution figures above are correct, we really are the bronze medal code and this should be seen as embarrasing for the new leadership!!
