May we all remember the July 1941 Race Meeting was abandoned because Trentham was used as a Hospital for the Measles and Mumps outbreak - when Hospitals didn't really exist, but the Public Health Nurses and Doctors did Home visits by electric Motor Cars or Horseback..Ahh those jolly Climate Change and Epidemic situations we have, Hmmmm

Don't tell me they had Climate Change back then too? 😲

@Baz (NZ) This may be of interest about Climatic Change from around 115 years ago, to the exact date, as where @stodge lives :)

Climate change also impacts on horses welfare when traveling abroad to Australia and deer..

I like the references back to the 1600's weather records..@stodgeand others based in the UK feel free to share and ensure those weather records are brought to the fore for our Academics and others to read and learn from.

Caroline, at the risk of getting clobbered by you-know-who for giving you another 'life story', ha, I once took a day off work when a youngster - so this would be in the early 1970s - to go out to what was then the middle day of the three days that then constituted Wellington's July meeting...

The day, somewhat surprisingly, was fine.

The ground, definitely not surprisingly, was muddy to the extreme.

The cute young lass I was, erm, 'seeing' at the time must have equated Wellington in July to Royal Ascot in June and hence turned up in a frilly skirt, a summery hat and - ha - high-heeled shoes...

I had to 'save' her from sinking into the Trentham lawn several times...

Happily, she had a decent collect off the Parliamentary Handicap winner that year - Frederick - to help defray the expense of having to buy replacement shoes...

Clearly you’re the dude who writes Labour policy

I'm not the one standing for election on a platform of..

All I can see is you're threatening Council workers with job cuts and like most businessmen you think you can run the Council the same way you run your business.

In politics you have to argue, persuade and convince - not command.

Perhaps you see yourself as Auckland's answer to Boris Johnson? Fair enough but you'll find his major contributions to London life were bicycles and getting stuck on a zipwire.

You didn't rattle my cage, it just proved you are a cock head

Bicycles and Scooters on Carriageways?

We will always laugh at the old Carriageway Act from the 1800's being brought to the fore.... Can't stand those scooters all over the footpaths as they are a hazard.

This little beauty cartoon from 1906, change a few characters around and it's just as applicable today

Nothing to Fear Climate Change

Wellingtonian  (coming from the Big House) : Scientists agree that climates are changing all over the Globe.

Is there any fear that Wellingtons climate may change for the worse?

Visitor: Oh, No, it couldn't
