Aaron Bidlake 760 Report post Posted May 17, 2021 Due to track being too firm. I see Hastings are not running the chase next week either. napier

coro fan 93 Report post Posted May 17, 2021 Shame, there were 9 nominations for the hurdle and 3 or 4 in the steeple I believe. South Canterbury is in drought conditions and the track is a 2.
stodge 1,940 Report post Posted May 17, 2021 Abandoning jump races because the ground is too firm happens everywhere. In the UK, a meeting at Wincanton and chases at Taunton and Exeter were abandoned last month due to very dry conditions leaving the turf firm or hard. Only the "summer" jumping venues have invested in watering systems - those racing primarily in the winter don't need to but a dry spring can cause problems.
