Overnight the most comprehensive agreement was signed in China. This was an agreement with the HKJC to create an international standard race program to be launched in 2025 in China. This includes the creation of an iconic international standard racetrack with all the facilities needed to create that environment. The agreement is more far reaching than the race meeting - it also includes the establishment of a complete industry model, all the way down to creating a fodder and grass program using biological remedies.

I've been watching the Chinese influence in the race ownership over the years. Extensive ownership entities have been registered, including partnerships with the largest equine owners over the planet. The most prominent of these being the China Horse Club. This has given those owners access to the machinations of the leading stables, in particular their management processes. A number of Chinese personnel are now involved in different levels of the sport over the globe.

The World Tote is also part of this gradual quest for involvement in the sport. Based in Hong Kong, the World Tote has signed agreements with a number of tote operators throughout the World, including the UK Tote. This saw betting revenue on the Royal Ascot Races increase from 3m odd quid to 19m quid. The Chinese were not legally allowed to bet on these races until this agreement was reached.

An interesting sign of the times...

Interesting indeed.

Tote aside,  will this mean that the new racing operation will stand alongside HK racing as a separate but complementary entity - or will it be an assimilation into a overarching 'Chinese' model, I wonder?

maybe they could reclaim some land in the South China Sea and build a racetrack on it instead of a military base, n0?

will they put tarriffs on horses imported from (aus) and will they use uyghurs around the 48kg mark as jockeys, if they weigh too much i reckon Xi Ping Pong could get them on diet pretty quick.

rather than build a track in mainland China why not get the NT govt to sell them Fanny Bay or Dan Andrews in Vic to sell off Flemington to the Chinese and sell the naming rights, certainly Chairman Dan could use the cash for a better Covid quarrantine solution..

any names you can think of sheep shearers for a chinese racetrack???     the best suggestion will receive 6 twin packs of our newest pickle varieties including cinnamon and chiili,

peppermint and mustard and the everpopular chia and raspberry.

on a side note i'd be interested to see the Chinese policy on rehoming retired racehorses published and whether owners will contribute a % of prizemoney similar to that us uncivilised aussies currently have an obligation to.

If HKJC making the blueprint for the new venture 1) the track could be on reclaimed land as Sha Tin is , that's why it needs a bit of engineering now and then to stop the sinking and 2) some of the retired horses could follow the HK ones and go to / come back to OZ and NZ and win plenty as many do . Dice Roll and Reynolds being a couple who have won 5 from 5 between them in last month .

Upgrading of Conghua Racecourse: To unleash the full potential of CRC as a centre for world-class speed racing events, the Club will upgrade its infrastructure. This will include the construction of a new and iconic grandstand as well as additional stables, training facilities and expanded staff accommodation. The Guangzhou Municipal Government will build an additional access road to CRC to enhance its accessibility. The upgrade will also enable CRC to further support the training centre at Sha Tin as part of the Club’s dual-site model.

Grandstand?

The New Normal doesn’t factor in large gatherings surely? And given that Vaccines do not make people ‘immune’ mask wearing mugs and social distancing rule...so where does this lead us?

So why the 'fire sale" of so many of their horse last week? ( and don't proffer the "transport difficulties" line please)

I may have missed it but the gavelhouse fire sale was Rider Horse not China Horse Club . China Horse Club has millions of bucks worth of high quality bloodstock across the globe .

Big difference between Mongolian Rider Horse Club and China Horse Club (CHC). Among other horses CHC owns shares in Australia (Derby and now V good sire) and Justify (triple Crown). That's just the start. Bloke that designed Sheik Momo's racecourse in Dubai is the main named principal in CHC. Big Big money.

Slightly OT but just reading about the buyer Hong Kong buyer of the highest priced lot in the recent Inglist yearling sale. He says the horse will go to John Sadler , his biggest trainer in Australia with 30 of his horses with him. Has others with Les Bridge. So it shows how big these guys can it when they get into the industry.
