Gruff 2,800 Report post Posted April 10, 2021 The horse was going past the Heavily backed Superdonna before things got a little cramped before the winning post running in as the leader Coretto moved out more abruptly before the line. Was Superdonna a Certainty beat? Looked to have ample opportunity if good enough and the head on from the Love Racing site cuts out before showing any contact, count the number of times McKay used the Whip, more than Collett and Yanagida combined. Would of been another slightly unlucky runner who became lucky in the Room Guinness
wobbly 76 Report post Posted April 10, 2021 When it takes an hour+ to make a decision you just know it's going to be dubious As you say Gruff, Extortion went past eventual winner so the ricochet initiated by inside runner should have given benefit of the doubt to Extortion Gruff
100 1 1,386 Report post Posted April 10, 2021 They showed the full head on later on after they abandoned the meeting. It was more convincing that both horses squeezed Superdonna and at that poiint appeared Extortion and Superdonna were on terms. Agree though not 100% Superdonna would have won IMO. .. and that is the rule....you have to convince the judicials your horse would certainly have won without the interference To be fair Corretto also checked Superdonna at the start Gruff and Guinness
We're Doomed 4,865 Report post Posted April 10, 2021 I'm pleased to see someone mentioned this, I thought everyone was too busy following the quinella comp. I thought it was a very surprising result. The winner ran past the protesting horse and knocked it as it went by. There was nothing to indicate the 3rd horse would have won the race if everyone had kept a straight line. You really have no idea what is going to happen with some of these protests. The decisions are so inconsistent. Unlike Rugby and league, no one ever comes out afterwards and says the officials might have made a mistake on the day. It wasn't as if they were under any time pressure, unless they were keen to head to the bar. 100 1 1,386 Report post Posted April 10, 2021 As i have said before I think racing should have a bunker system that controls all NZ racing inquiries. No jockey/trainer input....they view the film, make a decision and explain the rule to the public. The public also sees the relevant video. About 25 metres from the finish. Both horses cannoned into Superdonna at the same time. The head on showed it.

We're Doomed 4,865 Report post Posted April 17, 2021 Obviously a different panel did today's last race at Te Rapa. Without seeing a proper head on, the interference looked worse than last week.
