eljay 1,719 Report post Posted April 7, 2021 JJFlash - since you posted that field there has been a change of driver listings. Zac has disappeared and David now listed. This is one of the major races of the year - surely HRNZ/Addington can get it right first pop!
We're Doomed 4,855 Report post Posted April 7, 2021 For someone who knows nothing about harness racing these days, it does look like a good sized field with quite a bit of form. Pure Steel

Well if you can't win a Blue Riband like a NZ Cup or the Interdominion (the 2 big one's really) then the NZ Derby as a young horse must be next best on your resume. Just has a lovely sound to it . Derby Winner ! maybe the big win feel, comes from the thoroughbreds having the famous Kentucky Derby and the classic English Derby as top of the stack prestige JJ Flash

As a keen student such as yourself would know eljay , official drivers are not officially advised till approx a day after fields are drawn. And you will know also that HRNZ puts in 'likely' drivers which are the the horses driver in last race.....as you have mentioned previous this annoys you. But often they don't do it to the stables with several runners, maybe suggesting they trying to be as accurate as possible ,realising the big stables more likely to be forced to have different drivers. Are the fields when drawn up 'official' fields widely publicised and bet on , the draws are crucial and reacted on by the 'pros' but would they be swayed by the driver listed when they know these not official till a day later and by then all drivers are listed with no gaps ! Have you taken it up with HRNZ ? JJ Flash
