Driver G Smith defended a charge issued under Rule 868(2) in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure KD HAWK was given full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible placing through his lack of vigour in the home straight. After viewing the films and hearing evidence from Mr Smith and Stewards, the JCA found the charge proved and after hearing submissions on penalty suspended Mr Smith's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 5 April 2021 (4 days). Followed by  "C DeFilippi (ALDEBARAN FLOSS) [Rule 869(2) Whip & Rein Reg] - Using whip with more than a wrist flicking motion (5 days). Suspended from 27/03/2021 until 11/04/2021 inclusive Then "S Ottley (LA ROSA) [Rule 869(3)(f)] - Improper driving, failing to restrain breaking runner in the score up resulting in a false start. Fined $600   In summary, GS fails to show vigour in the final stages in a race and gets  a 4 day holiday whilst CDF  gets 5 days for trying a bit too hard. Make of that what you will

That was my initial thought as well. Mind you, CDF  is not driving as often these days and did receive a warning earlier

Yes he hasnt got a good rap sheet when it come to breaking the whip rule but still for punters it’s a bad look when not trying is less of a penalty than trying to win

Used to be once, and about the harshest penalty around, not these days, every thing seems watered down.
