TAB NZ - WOW!

I am restricted on all fixed odds and multiple bets

Their advertisement telling Kiwis to bet with them  only applies to long term losers

Any winners are subjected to the dreaded algorithm(restricting bets ...especially early) therefore forced to bet offshore

Not sure whether I should be pleased or not that I am totally unrestricted.

I have often wondered about some surveillance on mine, every horse/team I click on, the odds drop.  Could be just Mary Jane paranoia ... 🤣

I am a smart punter, but nowadays the amounts are trifling, I'm mean I am happy with 50-200 profit and none of the stress

If I have to bet a larger amount I just break it down, like a 286, then a 64 and then 249, etc  and you always throw in a couple of little unconnected bets, esp on course.

If he’s a smart punter, he would find a better Provider, or, split the bet into two x $250 bets.

Yes, NZ TAB does have restrictions but, in terms of NZ Racing, they are far less restrictive than Australian corporate bookmakers - Win an they will close you down.

Aus corporates are only interested in high turnover, losing punters and they are the scourge of our industry.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. The average punter (like me) will never get banned from a Ladbrokes or a Sporting Bet company. If you a betting in millions and winning all the time you might get black flagged. But I’ve won many 5 and some 6 figure collects from Lads, for small $50 all up wagers, and all they do is send me bonus bets. They sponsor racing incl racetracks, big races like the Cox Plate, Caulfield Cup etc. So how can you justify the silly comments in the above post- especially “they are the scourge of the Industry «How many people do you “personally” know that have banned? Do you work for the NZ TAB???

I suspect if I walked into a betting shop and asked for a £500 win bet on an 11/2 bet the poor shop Manager would call Head Office who would offer me, I suspect, £100 at 11/2 and the rest at starting price.

Quite. When I’ve gone online to have a bigger bet on one of my own horses, say $1000 to win @10/1, usually the bet will come thru $5000/500 and a minute later the remaining $5000/500 will come thru. So the second part will be after approval. Casinos are no different. They have betting limits on most if not all games. Roulette, Blackjack, etc all have high (and minimum) limits.

It depends on the race and their exposure.  If I asked Ladbrokes for $500 on a 14/1 shot on a wedneday NZ meeting they would only let me have $200 on it.  And have to revisit the bet later.

Tote betting there is no restrictions, hence why World pools could be a massive winner for the industry.

I have learnt that when I hear of a person that has $5K here, and $10K there that they must be a losing punter over time to be able to get bets like that on.

Personal experience. I don't bet millions, not even close. Every account has been closed or restricted into oblivion. And most accounts never reached 5 figures. It is laughable. I will forward to a journalist one day, if I can be bothered.

They are only interested in high turnover losing punters. They only return a mere fraction to the industry of what a tote can.  Hong Kong and Japan are arguably the most successful jurisdictions in the world. The common denominator is no corporates. And UK is an example of how the corporates, given virtual free rein, have hamstrung a mighty industry, in perpetuity.

But to each his own. Enjoy your bonus bets

If UK had a problem then perhaps the legislation or rules governing their participation are different? Do they have a Tote system like NZ? AUSTRALIA has done it right and forced the Corporates to pay their way. Perhaps UK has been mainly a bookmaking country ?
HK is different and comparisons to other countries are not balanced. Australia has 7 States and Territories (excl ACT). Each has its own State Govt and sets its own rules for Corporate Bookmaker participation. SA stuffed theirs up but the rest have got the rules of participation pretty right and the competition for business is fierce. On top of that, TABCORP is growing in influence against the Corporate tide. HK has one jurisdiction and a monopoly. Corporates are banned and residents can’t bet offshore - unless they want to go to jail!

If I especially bet a day before the races fixed odds I invariably get  restricted....you have exceeded your limit ...limit is $0 (Algorithm)

I maybe able to get one multi on but if I use the same horses again in another combination many times the horses prices are reduced. (or exeeded limit)

I am effectively an oddsetter for the NZ TAB.

Should I invoice them for my services?

Should I go to the Commerce Commission for unfair treatment?

Nothing is more frustrating!
