Red Rum 1,833 Report post Posted January 15, 2021 Potentially very handy import steps out tomorrow with an eye to the future , was stuffed a bit up North due to date of birth ,brought by Highclere and gelded , they know what's required in OZ as most they bring down win . stodge 1,912 Report post Posted January 15, 2021 Yes, very unfortunate to have been born the wrong side of the New Year - four days later and he's have been an early 2-y-o. As it was, he didn't race until he was a 4-y-o. The dam is by Indian Ridge and that's usually a preference for slower ground. I'd have thought 2400m would be the ideal trip as well. Got that slower ground yesterday Stodge, 53.5 kgs over 2000 pissed home , only 2.60 on the tote but never in doubt . Softer tracks in Autumn will be up his alley , interview after Chris Waller said he steps up to 2400 in a few weeks . Beat old Harpo Marx who's been in good form , GH was getting 5 off him though . He was good for few kilos rise yesterday though and take a good one to do him next time .
stodge 1,912 Report post Posted January 30, 2021 Thanks for the update, RR. Yes, it'll be interesting to see if he can run up a sequence on wet ground and it's nice to say Mr Waller (who knows his stuff) agrees with me on the step up to 2400m. Waller is a genius , check out High Bridge , ok over hurdles and bumpers in UK , out of a guineas winner though. Never seen a starting stall until he arrived at Wallers , he got few wins out of him and got him up to decent level until old age caught up with him . With GH trained by him and selected by Highclere they really know who to bring down , he could go lot higher .
