Race 1
1 Aronov

Very green on debut but looked to have a lot of raw ability. He showed good gate speed so look for him to roll forward and be hard to run down.

2 The Panther

Have been waiting a little while for this 3YO Ifraaj Gelding to debut but the Te Akau team have been patient with him. He has had 8 mostly quiet trials in which he has indicated ability.

8 Dark Satin

Showed good gate speed to cross to the rail from a wide barrier on debut and she kept on working all the way to the line. Draws better here and should give a good kick turning for home.

7 Eridani

Goes well here at Taupo and has hit the line strongly in her past 2 runs suggesting another win isn’t far away. The extra 100m looks ideal and there looks to be a good tempo in the race to set up for her to come off heels and get over the top of them.

5 Ulaanbaatar

Laid out a tad in the straight at Tauranga but hit the line strongly over a mile. The 1800m here looks a nice stepping stone towards the derby trip and he’s the clear standout in this field.

7 Wicket Maiden

Has put in a couple of good performances in strong 3YO company this prep and now drops back in trip against the older horses. Draws well to to possibly lead or trail and will be fighting out the finish.

10 Vee Cece

She has taken a little while to get going this prep but her past 2 runs have been superb. Two starts back she was eating up the ground late when going down a head to Super Hoof and then hit the line strongly again when getting well back in the Waikato Cup. There is always a risk with taking horses that get back in running but the race looks to set up nicely for her to be running them down late.

9 Cheeky Bee

Didn’t appreciate the Slow 7 at New Plymouth 2 starts back but his performances either side over the mile were strong. The step up to 1800m looks ideal.
