mikenz 1,071 Report post Posted October 11, 2020 Well before the first there were a lot of scratchings, seems they have plenty of options up north.

There was one late scratching. All other scratchings were before scratching time. What do you expect? Some kind of scratching checklist that you have to fill in before you scratch? Bit scratchy after galloping. Heat in a leg. Elevated tempreature Unsuitable track condition No suitable rider available Not eating up. Owner can't make it Broke down Injury Needed medication it can't race on Etc. etc. etc. You could have a list of say 100 items and if you then still tick the box saying 'no good reason' the horse gets stood down? Classen jumped steeples faster than some on the flat at Ellerslie..... you arent pressed to run them week on week that decision is made by the trainer... i call bullshit
mikenz 1,071 Report post Posted October 11, 2020 Irrespective of all the scratching issues, that is a lot of numbers wanting a run, must still be some life left in racing,be interesting to see how Otaki goes thursday, yet in many ways the south seem to have few racedays,2 meetings in 6 weeks, that seems a bit light to me.
