Several 1200m races and connections just not prepared to start at wider than about barrier 9. Avondale usually serves up a nice surface , but there has been serious water restrictions in city recently. And not much spring rain. Just a observation ,at Timaru today all the scratching are 15 barrier draw or wider, they seem to just give them the obsolete stalls.so the scratching saint just the ones who initially drew wide. Note that when a horse is scratched all those drawn outside it automatically move in one. In a 14 horse field the horses will all be shown as drawing from 1 -14 regardless of their original draw. It doesn't mean the scratched horses all drew outside 15. Certainly some of those safely in the field scratched because of their draw, but as it happens the winners have been coming from all over today, if they have been good enough. That's a better way of putting it.
