Currently there are still plenty of horses being nominated to race on mainly wet tracks so who knows...this could continue into the spring and summer. There hasn't really been a big drop off in owners...even with the uncertainty of racing in these troubled times syndicates appear to be being sold. With no travel , concerts etc maybe this an influence currently. Plus the carrot of getting good money for a horse with real ability should you snare one. There's the thing - in the UK we have races for less than £3k currently so that's less than NZ$6k at current rates and some on here complain at prize money of 10-15 k. You'd better believe it costs to keep a horse in training here as well so, as others have said, you don't go into racehorse ownership to make money. Indeed, if you want to make a small fortune, start with a large fortune and buy a few racehorses. Tomorrow (UK), the Class 6 handicap at Newcastle goes for £2,782 to the winner and the Class 5 novice for £3,429. The Class 2 Nursery is going for £8,715 and that's a race that was worth £20k a few years back. Compare and contrast with France where the lowest race goes for 7,000 euro. UK prize money is awful because of the operating model. soliloquy

No advertising, not a licenced syndicator so can't do that. Just word of mouth and friends of friends. Pam Robson

Correct answer I don't think you can even advertise informally on this site. I presume that the registered syndicators get hit with a few bad debts too.
