Just Looking 44 Report post Posted August 11, 2020 The announcement of a level 3 lockdown for Auckland for 3 days with Auckland travel restrictions would have to put the Ruakaka races in serious doubt For Saturday

The idiots calling the shots need to read & learn law. If it's that Victoria Casey representing the Crown in the Andrew Borrowdale JR or Aaron Martin who had had 2 compassionate leave cases ruled against him re Coronavirus one has to question if those giving legal advice are "Fit & Proper persons". It's time for us to have Parliament run as it was set up for, not that of run by unelected idiots.
rdytdy 5,335 Report post Posted August 11, 2020 COVID-19 Announcement – Implications for Thoroughbred Racing NZTR 11 August 2020 Following Tuesday evening’s announcement of resumed COVID-19 restrictions NZTR and Stipendiary Stewards met and agreed the following: Persons and venues within the Auckland Super-City region must comply with NZTR Level 3 Directive “Protocols for training, trialling and racing under COVID-19 Alert Level 3” (link to Directive). Persons or venues that are outside the Auckland Super-City region must comply with NZTR Level 2 Directive “Protocols for training and racing under COVID-19 Alert Level 2” (link to Directive). The government announcement impacts upcoming race meetings as follows: Riders resident in Auckland on the evening of 11 August are stood down from booked rides at the Taupo race meeting and will not be able take rides at race meetings during the alert level 3 period. NZTR has been advised that Leith Innes is already in Taupo so may ride on Wednesday should he wish. Any horses nominated for Taupo that are stabled in the Auckland Super-City region are scratched. As a precautionary approach the Whangarei RC meeting at Ruakaka has been postponed to Sunday 16 August. NZTR will confirm the running of this meeting by Saturday 10am. The Taupo, Riccarton and Waverley meetings will be permitted to operate under Level 2 Protocols. For these meetings, NZTR permits Jockeys to be booked for rides even if they are not resident in the island that the meeting is conducted. Crowds will be limited to gatherings of no more than 100 people. Contact tracing and temperature checking procedures will also be in place. Trainers based within the Auckland Super-City region may work their horses under Level 3 Training protocols. Further announcements will be provided on 12 August. stodge 1,912 Report post Posted August 11, 2020 To be fair, the lockdown was re-imposed in parts of Ireland and racing has been allowed to continue behind closed doors. In the UK, we had a re-imposed lockdown at Leicester and racing continued at the city's track. The disappointment of the failed crowd "trial" at Goodwood hasn't gone away and York won't be trying to get anyone in so it looks like early September now. meomy
We're Doomed 4,824 Report post Posted August 11, 2020 It will be interesting to see what they do at Waverly. 207 noms there, so enough to run 15 or 16 races. Starting limit of 12 for some races. Only $10,000 races. Will they try and give as many as possible a start in case there is a bigger shut-down to come or will they eliminate 80 odd horses? They have said the will split the races , so probably going to be 11 races . The 65's are going to have a 2nd division running for 10k . Chris Wood 1,545 Report post Posted August 11, 2020 I thought TeRapa had quite a good crowd. If your looking for a good venue there, book a table at the Fosters Lounge at the top of the Grandstand. Was lucky to be invited to take a spot at the “ Wrote @ Highview table last Saturday. Great atmosphere, Food and the viewing from up there was great. Certainly a great spot. shaneMcAlister, Baz (NZ), rdytdy and 1 other
meomy 971 Report post Posted August 11, 2020 @Chris Wood @nomates @We're Doomed etc Cindy said to "Stay at home if you have symptoms or feeling unwell" She didn't & has no lawful authority to tell healthy people to "Stay at home" if they are well. It's about a balancing act, as all laws tend to be for each individual situation / case by case basis. Who are the lawyers been relied on by the Racing industry who have suggested such imbalanced decision making? May I suggest we all simply carry on life as we have previously known it, exercise common sense & enjoy life. The current stupidity & failure of Duty of Care to not include the wider economic impacts & that of the basic Human Rights of ordinary every day people who are healthy to go about their lives must be factored into account & is currently not "proportionate." or balanced. Commonsense tells us how influenza / pneumonia spreads.
meomy 971 Report post Posted August 11, 2020 Come on Racing industry hierarchy, wake up & stand up for the industry & betterment of the wider community. We all know to Stay Home if we ARE UNWELL and that it's "NORMAL" to go about one's life in peaceful enjoyment if one is well. Maybe the industry could consider having a jug or two of fresh orange juice & one with water & slices of lemon at tables....or offer hot water & lemon drinks to ensure healthy participants.. It's times like this to be thinking outside the square and be innovative. Forget the masks as it's impossible to understand what people are saying, especially if one has a hearing impairment. Bring back Radio Trackside on the Wireless whilst you are at it. drewandjo and soliloquy 1

There must be a piece of law tucked away that doesn't permit the current situation of been locked under the thumb of "Behavioural Scientists" either. As previously posted, read the paper on 25 ways of ensuring adherence to Social Distancing we have posted - it is worth while noting it wasn't "peer reviewed" & it's highly unlikely to hold up as legal in Courts of laws. nomates 3,455 Report post Posted August 12, 2020 Ruakaka gone , obviously far too much hard work for B Saundry to get this meeting xfered to somewhere south of Auckland . Yet again he shows scant regard for the owners/ trainers and jockeys who are the backbone of this industry . But it's OK , Bernard still get's his full pay packet for his lack of effort . napier
