rdytdy 5,335 Report post Posted July 1, 2020 It appears that Michael Coleman will be missing from the future jockey ranks following an accident at the Rotorua trials yesterday in what seems a career ending incident. Unfortunately a horse reared and came down on top of him fracturing his femur in three places and causing damage to his pelvis. Tough way to go out Mickey but all the best with your recovery. 100 1, Pherozity1, Dissident and 5 others 3

meomy 971 Report post Posted July 2, 2020 All the best for a successful recovery Mickey. I'm sure you have the courage & strength to get there with the help of your family & friends. Article about this incident appeared online last night in mainstream media. We need our paper publications back for those who miss reading about racing related news that comes about via "Bush Telegraph". slam dunk 1,317 Report post Posted July 2, 2020 Big loss to racing if the injury is that bad. Every incident needs investigation and some thought. i.e. was the horse ready to trial education wise? AS many horses are at the trials just to sell is it wise jockeys with less experience than Michael getting on with no upside of riding them on raceday. Big risk for no gain. Seems unfair so many having an involvement with a horse then seeing 10% go to an agent for not much risk.

Northern Star 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2020 The horse in question had Raced, along with Michael aboard. This was totally out of character for the mare, Unfortunately just one of those things that happens, every rider takes a chance when they jump aboard, whether it be Trials, raceway, or track work. A horribly unfortunate incident. All the best with your recovery King. Cheers Ryan Simpson

High Sparrow 702 Report post Posted July 15, 2020 It's a dangerous occupation all right. Such injuries end careers but Lance O'Sullivan came back from horrendous compound fracture injuries which most would have thought would be impossible to come back from and so hopefully we haven't seen the last of Mickey either. He's a tough and resilient bloke and very talented horsemen and I wish him all the best for a full recovery, even in the knowledge that it's a long road back. Patience is also a form of action Mickey. Patiti, rdytdy, Baz (NZ) and 1 other 3
