Australia has been racing all through Covid-19. Thank goodness for State Boundaries. Stakes have been lowered and some races taken off this years calendar (eg, Qld Oaks G1 and Tatts Tiara G1), but racing has endured everywhere - except Tasmania where racing is not so significant anyway. TurnyTom

Trump 2,741 Report post Posted June 28, 2020 The main difference between the States is the fact that Vic and NSW saved for a rainy day. On the other hand, Racing Qld didnât and as a result, due to a reduction in current revenues, it has had to cut Stakes back a bit - across the board. However, even after those cuts there are good stakes even at Country or mid week in SE Qld. The main thing is they have kept racing (and livelihoods) alive. Cairns is further from Brisbane than Melbourne is from Brisbane. In that sense it would be impossible for Racing Vic to run Qld Racing.

stodge 1,947 Report post Posted July 3, 2020 Owners allowed back on UK racecourses as of Wednesday. France will allow crowds of up to 5000 from the 11th. No sign as yet of any spectators being allowed back at UK tracks.
Trump 2,741 Report post Posted July 3, 2020 I have a share in a horse racing at Eagle Farm today. There are 2 Owners tickets allowed per horse - if it starts. The 2 owners have to go to a pre-designated area, situated on the âPublic Lawnâ area. There will be a maximum of 20 people allowed in total into that designated area. The 2 cannot go to other areas. If you leave to go home you must report and sign out! Meantime, Football Stadium can be half full! Ridiculous! I will be watching the win from the comfort of home....
