meomy 971 Report post Posted June 25, 2020 Karen Leek Greyhound trainer, owner & stalwart of the industry was tragically murdered to death in May at the property she co-owned & shared with her late mother in Victoria, Australia. It's been reported in Australian media her pregnant niece has been arrested and charged. It would be appreciated if the NZ Racing industry pulled it's socks up, got Radio Trackside on traditional radio together with a printed & internet weekly publication so we can catch up and know about the wider racing community news. We are after all a close knit community across the world who are joined together by common bonds. It was by chance we learnt about Karen's death through mainstream media. Thoughts are with her family & friends & Greyhounds at this challenging time. Karen's death is the 2nd woman in racing who has been found dead at home during Coronavirus/ Covid19 lockdowns with the other been Rose Patterson, Chairperson at Aintree, UK. The industry must do it's bit to ensure Governments open borders and follow pre Covid19 legislation that's always been in place in relation to Transport, Border Controls instead of using the disproportionate methods they are to address Covid19 . It's overdue the public health needs of the wider community is placed back on the pedestal & scales balanced for the betterment of all.
