There were several wet meetings in a row where you had to be on the pace, and then all of a sudden a firmer track and all the winners came swooping down the outside. I remember it well, I did quite well on the swooping day. I hate short straights; never bet at Moonee Valley and always wary at Caulfield, but I like Victorian racing; form is more reliable than elsewhere.
