Once again, as I've previously stated, there are very few trainers in the manawatu region, most of whom train only one or two horses. They have 2 options, move or send their horses to another trainer

So you are saying that 35 Kidz Kartz participants move from Taranaki and Manawatu ?  These are your future drivers , trainers owners and breeders.  Also there are 48 individual breeders (2019 figures) throughout the region as well as the current licensees.  That's  a lot of investment with little chance of re- couping. That's alienating  current and future participants or they have to travel excessively.

The 5 top stables in the region have over 100 horses in their stables at present .but the knockers and doom merchants don't want to know. That's ok The govt is being made aware of these matters. Roll on the opening day at the manawatu raceway. Come on down Stables for a new experience .

Regardless what happens to Manawatu track surely the kids cart kids can continue......plenty of grass tracks still in area plus the Manawatu track surely will be around for a while. And how good would the Stock car track be around the rugby ground. ?

In the 2018 report done by IER on Size and Scope of NZ racing it stated the Man/Taranaki/Whanganui area had 64 Harness breeders and 22 staff ,while Wellington had 40 breeders ,14 staff.Surely most of them will continue on unless the whole of NZ collapses which must be a chance if the betting shrinks !There was 200 owners in M/T/W region and 98 in Welly.

Trainers were listed as 22 and 3.

Cos of the number of clubs ,members were similar to Auckland and Waikato which are basically down to 1 club each.

But although the region is similar in most counts to Nelson /Marlborough region , it is well behind the main 4.....Akdl,Waik,Cant/WC and O/ Southland.

good summation T man. Only thing is if no harness racing in most of north Island The kids carts is organised by harness racingtrainers and wives so most likely no k carts in region. It is also run on harness racing programmes which wont exist  so will not be able to give the children raceday experience. A big loss asTaranaki/Manawatu a thriving area for Kids carts .. Donated my signed yellow jewels silks to them as believe future of harness racing lies in kids carts. But if TAB see no point in these regions then no point in giving children the illusion of a future in harness racing. DISGRACEFUL.:rcfe-angry:
