MAJESTIC 182 Report post Posted May 18, 2020 19/20 Racing Season Extended 13 May 2020 The Executive of Harness Racing Australia wishes to advise that the current 2019/20 racing season has been extended to 31 December 2020 HRNZ should follow suit. This is a one off for purpose of racing only. Are our executive prepared to get in behind this initative and do the same !!!! I think not as they do not know how to look outside the square. Patiti 274 Report post Posted May 18, 2020 Not a good idea for NZ. Start afresh 1 Aug and look forward to Cup week. It would skew all age groups for next season.
Stables 577 Report post Posted May 18, 2020 The Sires Stakes races and the Nevele R fillies series have to be run, there is a contractual obligation as all enntry fees have been paid and are held by the NZ Sires Stakes Board lamour, tasman man 11 and LongOwner 2
Nelli 432 Report post Posted May 19, 2020 We are different from Australia in that they were able to keep training and racing within their region. It was only the inter-State movement restrictions that prevented the Group races. In contrast those training on public tracks here had to close shop totally and some of their top horses are only just coming back in work. Its tough on us that did have good age group horses preparing for Jewels etc but fairer overall to start the new season afresh.
