Australia’s biggest punting club set to launch at The Bool.......

Recommended Posts

If Thommo had $500 invested out of a total of $292,300, that’s about 0.17% isn’t it? So if the profit was $62k he made a profit on his $500 of $105 or gets About $605 back. That would be a good 2 day result for him would it not :) A lot of fun eh? (Correct my maths if need be).

The live stream was hilarious at times.

Some examples go to 4.42.00 then 4.52.00 then 5.02 00.

Quote of the day in the race where they backed 4 runners and missed - "Oh no - we backed the wrong roughie"!

Where’s Bazzy gone? He’s gone quiet all of a sudden. I wonder why? I might’ve won......again. I guess I have the last laugh......again.

P.S. Say hi to Neil Davis from me ;)

Even when you have a point you can't resist having a crack at someone ..... unnecessary and diminishes you

Bazzy has been laughing at me for 2 days yet I can’t have the last laugh?

I love how balanced you are Colin. Give me a break! :)

The only thing diminished is your biased perspective.

They also had a $15,000 3 leg multi ending on Nashville Sound so if Nashville had won the last there would have been another $200,000 in the bank.

A bloody good 2 days punting all the same. B)

Thanks for posting these up CT , and from  earlier post if you got back  100 buck profit on 2 days fun that's bloody good and we'll done to the team , any profit is good .

Couple things to examine their performance though,  unless we know how much they laid out on  Gobstoppers race it's hard to work out the level of genius .8 runners 500 buck per runner , 4000 out 17000 grand back . Just hope something wins that returns a profit  , if not any horse returns something.  What iam saying is how much they lay out to get 17k is the the guts of it .

Newshound was beaten , gave his all but a couple of the punts  got home by a nose that's the swings and roundabouts,  old country saying " ifs and buts , if my granny had bullocks she'd be me grandad" .

20 odd per cent profit good effort none the less .Every punter has different criteria I suppose for success , iam happy to recycle money endlessly with topping up monthly for my losses or drawing a bit out after  an odd good month for a treat  , others would see that as poor punting as no profit over a year , I see it as my membership fee for a great hobby , it's what you target as  success or failure I suppose , a pro must show a profit though or they no different to us .

They were staking most races with 2 or 3 runners to turn a profit.

Gobstopper $500 @ $34 was actually a saver with their main bet being Robbie’s Star $10,000 @ $6 resulting in a profit of $6500 on the race.

Salorsci $5,000 @ $11 was actually one of 3 bets on the race with the others being Takumi $6,000 @ $8.50 & Mai Shiny Choice $5,000 @ $5.50 resulting in a profit of $39,000 on the race.

These 2 races give you an idea of their betting strategies they were implementing.

If possible, I'd still like to know how many bets they placed over the 2 days and how many were winning bets.

I’m not sure that’s even possible Pondersosa. They were betting rapid fire around the country. They even had a couple of bets on the greyhounds at one stage of which a $10,000 bet which won.

7 off the bigger winning bets I’ve posted above. There were others but you’d need to get the full list of bets won and lost off the boys who ran the punting club.

How did the club get started? Was it a website or social media-based?

This punters club was formed principally due to Covid.

Dicko (Melbourne professional Jack Dickens) normally travels to metro meetings and provides “mounting yard mail” on course. As there was no one allowed to attend the races this year they decided to run a punters club instead.

The 5 professionals invested $500 each which grew to a starting bank of nearly $300,000 in less than 2 weeks through spreading the word using their social media presence.

But he is a gift that keeps on giving. You couldnt invent that

Would you like to elaborate on that Neil?

I’ve created a thread with nearly 7,000 views generating interest in thoroughbred racing over here in Australia while the rest of you bitch and moan about how shit NZ racing is. Oh, that’s right, you’re not even racing at the moment.

I know which camp I’d rather be in. ;)

P.S. What have you done for racing apart from bitch and moan and make a snide remark about me?

Do you know what their percentage cut was?

Percentage cut? There was no percentage cut. On the contrary they awarded 4 bonus bets of $1,000 each for every $100,000 we bet with them. They also offered top fluc so we received best odds of all the corporates with the bets placed.

Keen for this type of Punters Club to one side

Tom

Sounds good Tom. We may see you in Christchurch beforehand as we were supposed to be flying to The States yesterday. The South Island could be a viable alternative in the meantime.

Will keep you informed if they run another punters club. Was definitely a lot of fun over the 2 days especially with the “Kiwiesque” type finish in the end! B)

CT, it might be a little bit like Trump's previous daily briefings, which he dragged out to 2.0 to 2.5 hours per day because the TV ratings were so strong he thought he was doing a great job. Once he found out people were only tuning in for the free entertainment or to watch the next train wreck, he stopped doing them.

Of course it’s all about the ratings Barry. ;)

Would you prefer listening to someone like boring old Neil Miller bitching and moaning about the same old shit that is the perpetual dismal state of NZ racing? Yaaaaaawn. :)
