No they're not. They are influenza viruses with much less serious illness.

Avian influenza A (H5N1) and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus are infections that cause a severe viral pneumonia leading to acute respiratory dysfunction syndrome and carry a high case-fatality rate. We have investigated innate immune responses to both viruses using primary human macrophages and respiratory epithelial cells as in vitro models. In contrast to human influenza A H1NI viruses, the H5N1 viruses hyper-induce cytokines (tumour necrosis factor [TNF]alpha, interferon beta) and chemokines (IP10, MIP1alpha, MCP) in in vitro cultures of primary human macrophages. A similar differential effect is observed in primary human bronchial epithelial cells and in type 2 pneumocytes although TNFalpha is not induced in respiratory epithelial cells. The cell signalling pathways responsible for this differential effect remain to be explored. Preliminary data suggest that such differential signalling involves p38 MAP kinase rather than NF-kappaB. SARS coronavirus infection of primary human macrophages is associated with a strong induction of chemokines without an associated type 1 interferon response. These observations may be relevant in disease pathogenesis.

OK,  now I totally understand the need for vast quantities of bog roll.

That is without doubt the most technical post I've ever seen on here , way way above my head , I am  still coming to grips in my head why no balls Alligator Blood has  some kind of female treatment to regulate him coming into season in his system.

Not a good read, wonder if they did "cut the sausage rolls". Amazing that they deliver a 3.8 mil loss on bonus bets - the weak balance sheet haunts, the 50 mil is the noose

All sad but a simple commentary on poor historical management

Not a good time to leave a balance of any substantial amount in the TAB.

Unfortunately, unlike most private business who are now in a similar position of potential losses in the future, there is no mention of redundancies - just to ask our staff to cut back on their hours.  They will ask government for cash - typical of an organisation bereft of ideas to reduce costs. Why not reduce their internal costs and see what a big difference that makes.

NZ has something like 170 ICU beds ... can you imagine what happens if the number of Covid cases spirals like, say, in Italy. HEALTH WORKERS testing the sick get sick. not enough oxygen and/or ventilator pumps. And in the meantime we need to manage who gets tested because right ow we dont have the  KITS to test large numbers of symptomatic people if community transmission is proven. All we have done so far with these drastic measures is buy time for our health system - time to acquire the equipment and establish facilities/processes and communicate knowledge to the populace  -because it's very likely that Covid will be already in the community. Let's hope I am wrong.

If we can keep learning from successful countries - like Singapore,Taiwan - the impact of Covid will be more manageable than it will be for,,say USA. However, the economic impact for us all is likely to be worse than the virus.

Tedros Adhanom / Ghebreyesus, an Ethiopian, who is head of WHO has a degree and is not a qualified Doctor of Medicine.

He appointed Robert Mugabe to assist him in 2017 and had to get rid of him.

Adhanom was also tied in with Research with Ebola,  HIV and other infectious diseases - look where he studied to see his full background.

Has he helped spread it with his own travel?

There appears to be a lot of Political figures or their partners who have tested positive for it so maybe they have all crossed paths with those who are mingling with the same carriers.

The health and sanitation standards in countries like Ethiopia are not comparable with New Zealand & most western countries.

We shouldn't be dumped into the same category as 3rd world country practices or where sanitation is s***.

Adhanom was backed by a US PR firm Mercury Public Affairs to get the Head job of World Health Organization, his assistants are primarily from 3rd world type of countries where health care is substandard.

Wuhan in China has a history of around every 10 years in the 8 or 9 year of sticking there rubbish behaviour into mainstream society.

Look up the history of those places where it's originated from in the National Library & Papers Past NZ and one sees a pattern of political fighting between these countries. E,g Wuhan virus, Chinese Pandemic to see the history of pandemics and viruses and land wars.

The timing with Brexit when things are unstable, and would be known to be unstable is also a factor.

Incidentally Chinese who have visited New Zealand in November and December knew about it then so why was it not addressed then?

It's time for accountability from those associated with the World Health Organization.

Incidentally Robert Mugabe sought treatment & died in Singapore which is the country WHO are taking there lead from - it's a well known fact Singapore have very high standards of cleanliness - in comparison with places like those from where current WHO directors are from.
