Baz (NZ) 1,719 Report post Posted February 26, 2020 I think Jennifer Eccles can win the NZ Oaks and Two Illicit the NZ Derby With Probabeel in Australia... this year could produce some very interesting voting results for the Champion 3YO Filly Of The Year . Add Catalyst to the mix and the result for outright Champion 3YO will also be very interesting! mckenzie 600 Report post Posted February 26, 2020 I think it is awarded to the NZB filly of the year based on who accumulated the most points over the designated races https://www.nzb.co.nz/sponsorships/filly.cfm So Two Illicit could win the Derby and not get the 3yo filly trophy, the same with Probabeel in Australia. Yes very true. A filly could actually win 3yo of the year without being 3yo filly of the year.

Very impressed Ted...and a very good ride considering how strong Jennifer traveled! To power away like she did was quite incredible! P.S. If I'm wrong about the Derby result...I hope your boy can win it. Then we will have to add Dragon Leap to Champion 3YO calculations also? What a crop we have this season!! rdytdy and Caroline

Savvy Coup was Champion 3 year old but not filly of the year. Lisa Latta trained filly won Filly of the Year

Huey 2,037 Report post Posted February 27, 2020 Is it only me who thinks the NZ Derby looks a cracking race this year?, with a few different form lines coming into it i.e. Reggiewood, the filly, Vladivostok and of course the fav. Not to mention Sherwood Forest and Scorpz getting up over the trip. Two Illicit for mine and Tibetan the boil over.
Insider 3,874 Report post Posted February 28, 2020 Dragon Leap was unbelievable after a slight hiccup. Normally a hiccup of any sort is curtains but in this instance I don't think so. Having said that, I would much rather see a NZ bred horse win the race. For value I am with Vladivostok and not just because I am a committed socialist. [Come in P4P hehe] Huey and Memphis2 1

Baz (NZ) 1,719 Report post Posted February 29, 2020 Probabeel might have just put her nose in front? Does an Aussie GR.1 count compared to the stronger Group ones in (NZ) ? Gruff
