Charlie Bukowski 408 Report post Posted February 3, 2020 I see a Ron Pryor recently passed away. Was he involved in the Saddlery business and/or owned quite a few race horses back in the day ? Name rings a racing bell, anyone enlighten me .... Cheers
gubellini 3,923 Report post Posted February 3, 2020 One of Ron Pryors first winners was Raoul. He won the 1977 Maramarua Hunt Cup at Paeroa. Neil Hain rode for Neville Atkins.
Chris Wood 1,545 Report post Posted February 3, 2020 He was a naughty boy Raoul.....used to pull up on his own accord....
gubellini 3,923 Report post Posted February 3, 2020 Chris Wood Raoul was initially trained by John Coutts at Te Awamutu. He kept him as an entire. Ron bought him and gave him to Neville to train. Gelding him probably made him more tractable.

That's right , remember his formline used to something like FFPPPRFFPPPRPP. Didn't he win a race and that night there was a fatal car accident..
