Spoken to by stipes about whip action . Jockey trainer should be all over it . If he's a hard working young lad he will need to sort that otherwise as the saying goes he could be on wrong side of history with that  come year or two .

Good racing , nice little 1970s racing belting on winner of 3rd . Some modern riding on second , shame it didn't nose it . Can these jocks give a horse time to respond for crying out loud , it is utter madness .

You called it RR. Good to see the stipes picked it up too. Obviously they read your post or blind Freddie told them.

Just as a comparison, junior driver Sam Thornley had his very first raceday drive at Addington last year. His whip action was really bad. Looked awful. Anyway he went to town whacking the daylights out of his horse and the the horse won.

He subsequently lost his junior driver licence (immediatley) as a result from that drive and was demoted to a trials only horseman, until he had received further training and education.

One can only hope someone has a quiet word to the jockey in this particular case at Reefton.

Aren't we told these soft whips don't hurt the horse? Then it shouldn't matter. Taking the piss of course, but are there not riding masters to teach these kids how to use the stick? They may ride a few trials but rarely use the whip then but get carried away in a race and don't know how to use it to best effect. This crazy round-arm action makes things look possibly worse than they are too and I don't think it helps the balance of the horse but it also gives fuel to the animal rights crowd simply because it's not a good look.

What gets me is the non stop cracks , honestly where does anyone reasonably ask someone to do something then .5 of second later  belt them because it's not done . A horse is a big animal , what's to say it speeds up quicker under five non stop cracks than one and hand heels before next one .To be honest it looks lazy imho .
