rdytdy 5,335 Report post Posted January 1, 2020 When winning the last race at Taupo on Flourishing he won the last race for that decade in the North Island (2010 -2019). Yesterday he won the first race at Ellerslie which would have been the first race run in the world for this decade and his win later on the programme on Julius in the Railway being the first G1 race in the world this decade also. Fabulous and special day at Ellerslie yesterday and thank you Leo for your wonderful hospitality on the day. Most appreciated. Indeed an excellent day , start shambles excepted , and I note Leo had you riding shotgun for him ! By consensus I agree his welcome and hospitality rarely matched on any NZ racecourse these days.Well done yet again. He even let me lurk my way in ! On the point of decade achievements many point out that a 'true' calendar decade runs till the end of 2020 and restarts 2021 . Whatever , Jason did well. Great riding and terrific speech. pogo(aus) 826 Report post Posted January 2, 2020 Funniest post ever imagine if we sent a top grader over.... second or third raters can sit three wide in your big sprint and still run second. TurnyTom
WOODBINE 88 Report post Posted January 5, 2020 Jason is one of the few NZ jockeys that could compete competitively internationally. Along with Opie Bosson NZ is lucky to have some very good jockeys that have remained here.

In the same vein, I believe that a couple of decades ago Steven Ramsay rode the winner of the last race of our season and the winner of the first race of the following season .. could be wrong but it’s a bit of trivia rattling around in the grey matter .. ?
