Taku Umanga 194 Report post Posted December 26, 2019 I clearly don't understand the preferential barrier draw criteria! Why does race 7 at Cambridge have a PBD with 9 runners rating 54 - 58 (four point spread) while race 8 with 12 runners rating 48 - 53 (five point spread) and race 6 with 12 runners rating 40 - 48 (eight point spread) do not have PBD? Any ideas?
Nelli 426 Report post Posted December 26, 2019 Perhaps it is because the horses in lower rated races are up against each other week after week and there are a lot of races for them in the next couple of weeks. By mixing it up by having pbd and random fields, the 'higher' rated horses are not always disadvantaged and the R40 not always drawn 1 (mightn't suit a horse not sharp off the gate) Hunter the punter

eljay 1,711 Report post Posted December 26, 2019 IMO 5 points spread is not sufficient to incur PBD conditions.
