Lloyd Williams

I see Lloyd Williams has got a few changes going on , Yucatan off back to Ireland according to reports  and yard apparently may be sold . A few years back he paid 410K Pounds for point to point winner Dlauro who was red hot favorite when hosing home  point to point on debut , the fact he was so short gives it away a bit . The horse had year off and absolutely bolted up in bumper in May . He is a serious horse if he keeps sound . He's in at Punchestown tomorrow , however now owned by JP MacManus.  Strange one as JP won't buy a horse with issues as no need to , Williams don't need money . Horse is good show of making it to Cheltenham as live chance in a novice , odd one to cash up on .

Dlauro 4/9 at Ladbrokes in 20 runner field . Will skate home bar accidents . Those big field maiden/novice hurdles in Ireland  normally get sorted into order pretty quick with favorites settling on pace out of trouble putting a gap on lessor lights early on .

Selling up Macedon Lodge so obviously Lloyd has decided to give up training.:rcfe-happy-1:

He’s only interested in one race - the Melb Cup. It’s an obsession. Why have all the cost assoc with Mt Macedon when he can have his Stayers in Ireland and if good enough, fly them to Melb for the Cup?

He cashes up at Macedon, dumps his staff and then donates his millions to Coolmore et al and the O'Briens. Brilliant,at least the nonsense/folly of who is training his horses is no longer a talking point or will he and Nick tell the O'Briens what to do

Lloyd will tell Obriens what to do and Lloyd will control it - ask Rogie and listen to Rogies speech after the 2007 MC, Rogie was gone 3 days later

Difference is Lloyd is probably 1 per cent of Coolmore business as a whole if that  . The backers of O'Brien have deep deep  pockets and been around for years , Lloyd is just a bit of an extra income stream, just like the ones that get offloaded to Mike DeKock and Bahrain etc.The advice he is giving Joseph O'BRIEN so far though is pretty on the money as decent results so far from limited numbers up North .

On  the whole Team Williams have done a decent job  , wheels came off this year but been plenty big wins , a few have found homes at Stud around the world and he has shown patience with injured horses Almandin being one . His cast offs get the odd win too .

Donncha O'Brien taking up training , report says he's concentrating on quality over quantity , that fits with Team Williams ethos so who knows maybe he gets the horses .

I reckon it's a shame if he doesn't have any trained in OZ anymore .

I'm finding this whole discussion very interesting....I'd love to know Lloyd's thoughts behind the change of operations.

I'd say you would have to wait for the Book Pam. Who writes it is anyone's guess:rcf-laughing-3:
