LightsOut 486 Report post Posted October 25, 2019 Nothing has changed Aussies can't bet into the NZ TAB so why would you advertise over there unless the person is clueless that there is a restriction on for Aussie punters. Maybe they have finally realised there has been a mass exodus of NZ punters who have given up on the crap betting platform here. Going to have to do a lot better than that pathetic promo to entice any of the back betting in NZ. JJ Flash

Insider 3,961 Report post Posted October 25, 2019 What I don’t understand is: If Australian’s cannot bet with our TAB, who are the New Zealander's betting with in Australia? Surely the rules/legislation works both ways or am I missing something?

Surely the rules/legislation works both ways or am I missing something? It's Australian law that Australians can't bet with offshore agencies. The idea is to protect punters, and the integrity of racing in general, by cutting off access to unlicensed bookmakers in the Pacific Islands, Asia, or the Caribbean. The NZTAB/NZTR should've spoken up when the law was being mooted to get an exception, but they didn't. Once the law was passed they said they were going to try to work something out so people in Australia could still bet with the NZTAB, but they haven't done so. There's no equivalent NZ law, so we can bet with Australian corporate bookmakers, or with any old dodgy mob from Vanuatu/Cook Islands/Costa Rica/wherever. Betfair Tabcorp,Sportsbet and the list goes on and on. Ozzies are spoilt for choice as are Kiwis who open accounts there Greg

Exactly it was well advertised in Australia for months when the Government was seeking submissions on the law change. Not hard to set Google alerts to racing legislation changes. The NZRB has 3 lawyers god knows what they do obviously not much given the above. Insider
