Peter R S 408 Report post Posted September 14, 2019 Seemed that the entire student population of Palmy (the ones that like to drink and party) were at the races yesterday. Clearly the toilets couldn’t cope because many of the guys unashamably just used the car park for relieving themselves. Some were semi peeing through the fence onto the racetrack. It was party central at a race meeting. Music booming meant many trainers asked for permission to go to the start early. Is this the way forward for racing? Tony 159 Report post Posted September 14, 2019 Fantastic promotion by RACE. Tickets numbers to the event were cut off at 3000. Each ticket was $25 with $5 going to a Punters Club run by Andre Neil. $15000 straight in to turn over and $60,000 for RACE. Some students would have been betting, plenty drinking. They looked to be having a great time. Some of the grey haired brigade forget they were once young or they had a pretty boring youth. If Trainers are complaining about the the noise then they have got their priorities wrong and it wasn't that bad. Maybe these Trainers could race on non student day when the Racecourse is very quite. Why aren't these Trainers complaining about the low stake levels. From where I'm watching it is only moaning about stake levels. Nobody has taken any action in the last 10 years so don't expect any changes soon. Owners are price takers and the TAB only has to pay $10,000 for a Maiden Race. If RACE are business minded they will have a bigger student area next year so they can sell more tickets. They should be looking at growing the event. Introduce more young people to racing and use the facilities.Maybe have more Student Days instead of just one a year. For a couple attending with 2 kids there wouldn’t be any change out of $400 for most. Compare that to $40 entry to the races, a full days entertainment and a chance to leave with more in your pocket than you arrived with, it all comes down to how it’s marketed. Agree with you to an extent but I think the full day is half the problem, and the fact in general there is nothing going on in between races which can make it boring as bat shit. I can tell you the Rugby wasn't exactly an entertainment extravaganza either. Pam Robson and We're Doomed

TBHunter 100 Report post Posted September 15, 2019 Well its been a while and during that time my two eldest children have growen up. What do you know it they are both into these race day piss ups for young folk. well done guys. Although they are from horsey backgrounds its the social interaction that they attend for. Trick now is to get them to buy into the actual horse event The stuff news photo shows up to 10 boys from a single prestigious Waikato private school and my reliable info is that another 6 were off grabbing a couch. Thats some valuable demographic info for the TB marketeers

Swift had been set to entertain crowds at the November 5 race in Australia but changes to her promo schedule in Asia have made that impossible, promoters say. The Victoria Racing Club says the decision is disappointing and it will provide information about a replacement artist soon.
