Multi tasking throughbreds

Recommended Posts

A recent family discussion turned to trying to identify a ' multi tasker  'throughbred .Details  recalled are that

it was named 'Educate' or similar and raced by the Lynch family possibly from the Te Awamutu area or trained in

that area.  Of note was that this horse apparently raced (and won?) at all distances from 2 year old 800 mts up to hurdling and

possibly even had a steeplechase or two.  Raced in circa 1970....Can someone help with horse name and track history.????

Execute was unraced at 2. At 3 he raced 7 times for 2 wins. He won his second start over 6f at Te Rapa on the 22/5/71 ridden by Greg Chitty. At 4 he won 5 from 28 starts including two Open Sprints at Ellerslie and Open Sprints at Avondale and Paeroa. At 5 he won 4 from 13 starts including two Hurdle races at Ellerslie ridden by Colin Lewis. At 6 he won 3 from 11 starts. The Campbell Hurdles at Ellerslie, the Awapuni Hurdles and the King Country Steeplechase at Waipa. At 7 he had an amazing season winning 8 from 21 starts. Amongst them a Steeplechase at Rotorua. Open Handicaps at Paeroa and Waipa over 2200 and 2000m respectively. The City Of Auckland Stakes over 2400m at Ellerslie and the Founders Plate 2100m at Te Rapa. John Riordan rode him in those two races. He capped off his 7 year old season by winning the Great Northern Hurdles ridden by Tom Fallon. Not sure if he raced at 8 or beyond.

Charlie Bukows true! His second start win was a Hack 6f race. He carried the 7.12 minimum. Willie Can and Gary Cross second with Prince Nizami and Ron Taylor third and Securitas and Alwyn Tweedie fourth.

Gubes - did Crash ever win on Willie Can?

Hi von Smallhaus. Willie Can won 7 races. Gary (Crash) Cross won twice on him- Matamata on the 21/8/71 and Rotorua 23/10/71. Gary Willetts and Dan Weatherley won twice on him and Gary Alexander once.

Thanks for refreshing my memory Gubes - I thought Crash had won on him and knew Dan had won a couple. Saw Dan last October and had a chat - he was looking very well.
