Another Record Season for All Stars

Good or bad for NZ harness. Speaking through my pocket you just have to love them come Cup week and Jewels day

ON TOP OF THE WORLD!

Mark and Natalie have posted their 6th successive training premiership this season making the partnership unbeaten since going official in 2013.

This season they have set a number of records, mainly overall stake winnings of well over $6m a feat never approached in our harness history. That includes 29 Group One wins on both sides of the Tasman.

Their special feat this season was winning the premier race in New Zealand, the NZ Cup and the highest- staked race in Australia, the Miracle Mile with different horses. That has never been previously achieved.

Mark has now won a total of 14 premierships. But  for a remarkable 22 seasons -all but two in his training career-he has been the leading stakes winning trainer and in only one of those less than $900,000 in total.

Mark has extended an unparalleled record for the Purdon family. Barry has won 19 training premierships since 1978, 17 in partnership with Sir Roy who won three on his own account. So one of the three Purdons have been the leading trainer in 36 of the last 48 seasons of harness racing in New Zealand. Who would have ever have thought ?

CRUZ BROMAC, NZ Free For All winner could return to All Stars for the Inter Dominions in December
