RESULT THREAD : ENJOY BLETCHINGLY STAKES DAY IN WINTER : INDIVIDUAL POINTS COMP : SATURDAY 27 JULY   

 

We will be winter road tripping through Otaki, Rotorua, Rosehill and Caulfield !   

 

Overview of the Rules:

1.  Post two selections for each race on the Schedule.  You can post the number and the name but I will only take note of the number.  If the number of the horse and name of the horse are different, I will go with the number.  

2.  You will be awarded 5 points for each winning selection.   There are no points for finishing second or third.

3.  You will be awarded an additional 10 points if your two selections in the race finish first and second (ie. get the Quinella).

4.  You have two Best Bets to use.  You can use a Best Bet on any race but you cannot use your two BBs on the same race.  If you use a Best Bet, any points earned will be doubled.   For example if you win and use a BB you get 10 points or if you win and get the Quinella, you can earn 30 points.

5.  You can post selections up until 2.30pm, 29 minutes before the scheduled start time of the first comp race.

6.  NOTE:    You can post scratching replacements up until 2.30pm.   After 2.30pm no scratching replacements are allowed and only late scratchings will revert to the TAB sub.

7.  The winner will be the selector with the most points at the end of the schedule of races.   If there is a draw on points at the end of the day, it will be a countback on winners, then quinellas, then BB winners, then BB quinellas.  If still the same then you share the accolades

Nice run in the heavy going by the 2YO son of Rios out of the nice mare Rongonui who put too much distance on them in the straight for the fast finishing Flaunting, daughter of Showcasing, to pull back.  BB wins for High Sparrow and Camacho in the first and 18 others found the win but no-one managed to get the right pairing for the Quin.

A strong win by the 4YO son of Zed out of Opulence, with the consistent Darci Brahma mare Strolling Vagabond hanging on for second, which saw Thecaptain and sayer pick up the Quinella.  GARY, Ohoka, Pegasus 9 and Gruff gained some good points with BB wins on Verry Flash.    The fave Obsessive, selected by a few in the comp, ran on for third spot.

The 4YO daughter of So You Think out of the Weasel Clause mare Hidden Strings was all class and left the next two faves to fight it out for second and it was a bob of the head but it went to Sasko, the 4YO son of Teofilo out of Saskia Belle with the race fave Fanciful Toff by Toorak Toff, having to settle for third.

A 3YO bay gelding by Domesday out of Florets, an Exceed and Excel mare, ran the better race much to the delight of Warren, Houlahan's Dream and Right first time who were the only selectors cheering it home.   No-one added the son of Sizzling to make up the Quin.   My Demetra, the daughter of Camelot ran on for third and the fave, the son of Smart Missile, Front Sight made up the First 4.

No change to the top of the board but Houlahan's Dream has made up some ground to be within 5.

We stay at Rosehill for the next before heading back to Caulfield.

The Waller trained 4YO son of Ocean Park out of Miss Purrfection, in the hands of Tommy Berry was too good on the day for the 4YO entire son of Snitzel, Goodfella who ran home well for second and held off the late surge of the other Waller runner and fave, Eckstein.

BB wins for Wrinkles, jack, Ponderosa8 and CommonSensical.  No Quins struck.

Hope all is okay with Cradle Mountain who was eased down to a slow canter early in the run home.

Koriokaramea picks up the win and gives themselves a 5 pt buffer on the chasing field.

No doubt about that winner, the 6YO son of Not a Single Doubt out of Beymatilla, by Umatilla and he won it nicely didn't he.   Jungle Edge, the lovely old boy, an 8YO son of Dubawi ran on gallantly for second with the consistent Canford Cliff's entire, Cliff's Edge picking up third in his first start for a while.

BB Quin for Punter Pete and a Quin for RacingJimmy were our top scorers with BB wins for Ohoka, ivanthegreat, mrzim and Charlie.

As we head into the last Sayer leads the way but there are a few tucked in behind with varying selections, and even BBs tossed in for Warren and Jimmy in 8th and 10th spots, that could prove useful if they finish in the right order ..  so again it comes down to the final race of the day .. good fortunes to all in with a shot

Quin:  2  Tshahisti / 7 Travimyfriend

Sub:  5 Romancer

Scrs:  9,10,11.  No late scrs.

The Tasmanian, by Clangalang out of Kita Ryokan, a Grand Lodge mare, took off and sustained too much speed to be caught.  Travimyfriend was eating into the lead at the line but never looked like catching the winner.   Snitzepeg ran on for third and the fave, Romancer filled the First 4.

BB Quins in the last for tonkatime and talk but they were too far back to overhaul the leading pack and Quins for Houlahan's Dream, scooby, jack, GARY, mrzim and Archer in the last to finish with a flourish.

After the ten races we had a deadheat at the top that could only be split by number of winners.   Koriokaramea had 7 over the day and Sayer had 6 which means....

Congratulations to Koriokaramea our Bletchingly Stakes Individual Comp Winner !   

Well done to Sayer who picks up second placing in a well fought match over the day.

Well I just got up today in the closest of finishes ...always nice to win a comp, especially a comp as tough to win as this one …. when there are so many astute tipsters taking part. 

Thank you Maria and Scooby for this marvellous comp.

I've had the good fortune to win previously in a Scooby comp, had a prize bet put on, and won that prize bet …. so I've had my share, and am very grateful for that.

With that in my mind, of my $70 prize bet from today (thanks for that, Scooby) I'd like to put $40 of that prize bet to add to Sayers $30 prize bet so that Sayer's prize bet is now $70  Sayer was beaten only a lip today and thoroughly deserves the top prize. Pick well, my friend. ..

And the balance $30 to go back in to the Prize Fund for future comps.

I hope that's alright with everybody.

Sorry I have been travelling for the past 12 hrs... just saw this and what a great gesture for you to make Koriokaramea...extremely gracious, and I am sure Sayer is over the moon with your generosity...I am happy to have people like you on board and very happy that the comps on the site bring so much enjoyment to a Saturday afternoon ,but it would not happen without the amazing effort Maria puts in to make up the ideas for the comps and then run and also without so many members taking part, we both really appreciate all the support and gestures like yours and others make it all worthwhile.Scooby.
