JJ Flash 2,135 Report post Posted July 6, 2019 A larger than life character in the racing and league fraternity passed away yesterday after a short illness. A regular attendee at Riccarton for decades and one of the best storytellers you would ever meet Costy attained much of his notoriety as a foe of the TAB and anti SP authorities a few decades ago.He loved a game of cards and his favorite pastime was to take the Victorian quaddie each Saturday although he always had the field in the last leg. I'm sure many others who crossed his path will want to tell their own story about this larger than life character. Was reminiscing with family yesterday and remembering a hilarious private Melbourne Cup day event in Riccarton in the late 90s where Paul donned the SP bookie hat again for the day. Needless to say he went home with most of my money! Condolences and warm wishes to Hana and family.
