jeepers 276 Report post Posted June 22, 2019 Advertise won the G1 Commonwealth Cup last night at Royal Ascot.A three year old by Showcasing x Furbelow a mare by Pivotal .He has had 7 starts for 4 wins and 2 seconds. What a good sire Showcasing is.Big loss to NZ breeding and stood at a sensible fee.NZ owners that have fillies and mares by this sire should treasure them. fitzy 143 Report post Posted June 22, 2019 Interesting that his NZ crops seemingly had little if any of the qualities of his NH sired runners.
jeepers 276 Report post Posted June 22, 2019 Maybe the class of mare put to him is not of the same standard as those in NH,or maybe he needed mares with more Mr P and Lyphard in their pedigree. Many Southern Hemisphere mares are saturated with Danehill and ND. Green Desert sire lines have not in the past been popular in the Southern Hemisphere until now with the exception of Volksraad.Showcasing still has and is leaving a host of winners.Perhaps the Oasis Dream line is not as popular as Invincible Spirit line.Could it be size? NZ and Aust has had Cape Cross and Invincible Spirit standing yet struggled to get mares so shuttling ceased. Now look what has happened in Aust with I Am Invincible.Certainly the Invincible Spirit sire line is in demand with the likes of Kingman,Lawman,See The Stars etc.and now in Aust they seem to be going crazy over sire sons of Invincible Spirit, thanks to I Am Invincible. fitzy 143 Report post Posted June 24, 2019 Jeepers am not so sure that Cape Cross ever struggled for mares. In his first 4 years at Cambridge Stud he served 455 mares with over 100 in first 2 seasons. He sired 28 2YO winners (10 black type) in his first NH crop. As a result he was priced out of our market and then didnt come back to NZ for a number of seasons, as an older stallion. Showcasing has averaged 115 mares in his 7 NZ seasons so no lack of support their either.
