Richard Hills could ride that round course alright , he pulled off two big strokes there . He had a retainer for Sheik Hamdan for years , he rode the horses not trained by John Dunlop where Willie Carson was retained . The QE2 mile in Autumn used to be run on round course . In 94 he was legged up on Maroof by Robert Armstrong pacemaker for Dunlop trained Mehtaaf , field included Bigstone Barathea , he was well out classed on paper but decent .66-1 led out stayed there won. After they rowed for shore and said basically they thought he had a chance .He was not a dead set front runner previously .Fast forward 7 years Godolphin must have forgotten this and put Hills on Summoner to make pace for Novarre ridden by Dettori who was to win as he was the star . At 33-1 Hills does it again beating Dettori into second, no mention after other than he was a pacemaker this time. I noticed Sheik Hamdan had Fanaar a 2016 gelding by Dark Angel 3rd in Britannia last night , in training with David Hayes Sheik Hamdan has a 2016 NZ bred colt by Stratum called Fanaar whos had a few runs tbis season .He must like the name a lot or its a mess up in head office . Another Fanaar by Unfawain ran in the 2000 St James Palace and 2001 Queen Anne . Swoopa
