pickle 35 Report post Posted May 30, 2019 Interesting to see/hear the comments of jockeys/trainers post races yesterday. After Race 2 the winning jockey said the inside 2 to 3 metres was "off" and horses would struggle with the kickback.Rail was out 11 metres so presumably new ground. One winning trainer compared it to a beach.Another said he put pacifiers on his horse to keep the sand out of its eyes.Big advantage to those that got handy early it seemed.I remember on the Group 1 day in February two senior riders making scathing comments on the surface then. One was interviewed next day on Trackside Radio and was vehement that the track was a disgrace.Presumably everything that can be done to fix it has been tried and has failed. hedley, Dwyn and Insider 2

pickle 35 Report post Posted May 30, 2019 2 hours ago, poundforpound said: Meantime if a trainer makes a small mistake and gives a vitamin dose raceday he gets years penalty......or David Walker has an illegal bet worth $500 to him, he gets 8 years disqualification......the gypsies cop it from Plod, with the RIU support, over some banal discussions re race tactics, Kevin William Morton gets harassed by the RIU for telling the truth about a lying failure, and meantime Foskett gets an industry award for doing nothing useful....... Such is racing.....the useless suits who’ve fucked the game are accountable to no one but the hard working toilers get abused at every opportunity. pickle 35 Report post Posted May 30, 2019 Foskett has the worst record in the history of mankind of failure at his profession. For Christs sake, under his guidance how many tracks ruined and meetings called off under his guidance. He is/was a protected species. Chris Wood 1,545 Report post Posted May 30, 2019 Sadly the wrong grade of sand was put on quite sometime ago. Previous short term caretaker and sand contractor to blame. Bart Cowan, a very competent track man has inherited a lemon, and at some stage racing might have to stop to do major remedial work. Hopefully the track and weather hold up for next Saturday! tim vince 985 Report post Posted May 30, 2019 100 1 haha u right of course.awt racing in most places in the world is not good for betting and generally the slower horses.i think t for training in nz good but we need curators who look after our grass tracks better than they are at present.. barryb 2,062 Report post Posted June 7, 2019 They are also not that easy to make, the sand requirement for them is not readily available or easily resourced in NZ. The grade they use is hammered by Golf Clubs and Sports Turf builders, demand well exceeds supply. Possibly would have to be shipped in from Australia if it’s even available there now. Google World running out of sand, to see a looming crisis for this and the construction industry, NZ is not exempt.
