JJ Flash 2,135 Report post Posted April 30, 2019 Nice to see this promising square gaiter back at Ashvegas trials yesterday. Beaten 5.5 lengths by Winterfell but im sure connections would be happy with that return given the time they ran Greg Iraklis

In fact most of the AS team went well but then whats unusual about that. Winterfell was the best performance on the day though as it ran time off 30 Roll on The Jewels, i can see a lot of the usual moaning about their domination coming up. Max powers 12 Report post Posted May 1, 2019 Will Oscar Bonavena be able to make the Jewels. Currently 17th, but needs around 10k to get into it.
Blue 1,099 Report post Posted May 1, 2019 One well placed win and a couple of other dropouts would see him in the field if, in fact, that's what they're aiming for. Newmarket RC and JJ Flash
Fartoomuch 1,376 Report post Posted May 2, 2019 AS will make a decision in the next week or so whether to go straight to races with OB or trial him again. Thats what MP said on website
Newmarket RC 209 Report post Posted May 10, 2019 Won well last night but still not 100% in terms of its gait. Im sure they will fix it but does it need another race to fit it for Jewels or can they do the work at home and or trials
Blue 1,099 Report post Posted May 10, 2019 I still think AS other fellow might be the better bet if, as Mark said, he goes better left handed. Odds on both are pretty short though.

As for the short odds, that's the norm given AS record at Jewels and ive never met anyone who went broke backing winners no matter how little they paid
Max powers 12 Report post Posted May 11, 2019 He broke the NZ 3yo record for a 2600m stand by 1.2 seconds. I'd say he is ready for the jewels fitness wise. On a side not he has beaten a NZ record 3 out of his 6 starts, not bad for a trotter who has only had the 6 starts. But only this 1 counts as he ran 2nd in the other

I'm sure they will look after the horses interests first but with potential withdrawals he might make it there on his current earnings

Blue 1,099 Report post Posted May 18, 2019 After last night there are several others who looked likely of making it but now have a very tenuous grip on a place.
Jape 344 Report post Posted May 19, 2019 If I heard them correctly at Oamaru today, Get Lucky has jumped two or three to make the list and one of those to miss out is/was OB. Probably needs two withdrawals.
Blue 1,099 Report post Posted May 19, 2019 Could he get a last chance this Friday or is that it for qualifying?

Rusty 575 Report post Posted May 19, 2019 "Noms" close Friday 24th at midday, by way of a trainer's acceptance. Wonder if The Met will do their usual thing and extend the closing time for nominations.....
john legend 744 Report post Posted May 19, 2019 Oscar is 13th on list at pres. and could start if cheerful pulls out.Has met trouble last 2 starts pos needs spell. Is Dads horse.
Blue 1,099 Report post Posted May 19, 2019 OB would have to have precedence over Cheerful with all due respect. Broke when the pressure went on the other night.
john legend 744 Report post Posted May 20, 2019 agree Blue, but jewels selection only on money won. so at present OB would be 1st ballot(only 1)and need a withdrawallto gain start. If he starts will be big chance.

Taku Umanga 194 Report post Posted May 20, 2019 Still a "chance" he'll get in judging by the number of withdrawals in some of the other races already today.
Counter Punch 256 Report post Posted May 20, 2019 Oscar Bonavena needs two horses to pull out to get a start. As it sits All Cashed Up is the 12th horse, Full Noise is E1 and if nothing changes ON wont even be in the racebook. Probably should have lined up Friday night JJ Flash
