Shit Ted when are you going to get an opinion of your own rather than cutting and pasting and then stating that you are right and soemone else is wrong? It just goes to show the character of this idiot Folau. He says that in his younger days he was a rooter and a piss head and then he supports Gays only to turn on the rooters, piss heads and gays  and say that they are heading to hell.

And I thought somewhere along the way that that perhaps you had some brains.

He has obviously found his faith, repented and advising others to repent also. What is so hard to understand about that.

Sure repent and all is well. Is that what happens to the Catholic Priests?  They have their wicked way and then repent and go to heaven. If you believe that sort of shit mate good on you.

The madness of these lefties:

Folau is saying that unless one repents then after death in some other state and some other time then one will be punished for these acts. Yet there is another religion who would kill you right now (and are) for doing these acts and they say nothing....in fact they endorse this religion. The sheer utter hypocrisy!!

Interesting.. so you are saying that to repent we have to stop rooting ... sorry if Maria wants children.. we have to stop drinking and we have to hate gays ...   not sure I can go along with that if that is what finding your faith is all about.. to me it sounds like one way traffic to halting population growth and incredibly judgmental and intolerant ... and who is he to caste the first stone, he is not entitled to that if he is truly doing this through faith.  Why are we supposed to just sit back and accept his views and choices in life, when he obviously can't accept others' choices in life.  I have no respect for a man that feels so threatened he has to use his following to put down others and crucify them to make him feel stronger.    That is not a strong man, that is weak man.

like the other one that was crucified for his beliefs ?

well, this blokes going to stand up too

or we could .....

let the gays run the world .

:rcf-poo:

:rcfe-happy-2:

The other that was crucified for his beliefs didn't judge as your beloved does.. he said that those without sin caste the first stone..   there is a huge difference.. if you can't see it I suggest you spend a few days reading the so called good book.

Why do you feel that the next step is "gays" running the world ... firstly how do you know that they aren't already.. not all have come out of the closet.. and secondly ..  do you feel they are so superior they could overrun everyone else and do it?    Odd way of looking at things.. they are just people ..   we are all just people..  living our lives.. loving, caring, and doing the best we can to make it to the next day :)

The left leaning media and SJWs crybabies have been loud and vocal trying to condemn and decry Israel Folou and now even his wife Maria and got the GoFundMe donation page shut down. Meanwhile the subsequent ACL donation page has almost reached $2.2 million in just 48 hours. Funded quietly and without fuss by concerned citizens in what is happening.

This is so similar at what happened in the recent Australian Elections where Labor and the left thought they were a certainty to be elected however the silent majority were given their chance in the polling booths scuttling Labor's dreams.

Rdytdy,

Thank you for bringing that article from The Australian to our attention.

I had the pleasure of seeing Winx win on 15th April, but the other good thing about that trip was being able to read the wonderful journalism in The Australian newspaper.  It is by so far the greatest newspaper in Australasia.  And it is contributions such as that by Bob Jones that make it so great.  Also, the wonderful racing page that has a sense of real goodness about it that no New Zealand newspaper could ever get close to.  Expert journalism that includes a delightful amount of thought provoking wry wit.  Their Bloodstock piece on Monday mornings is great.

The Australian offers balanced views and is the best newspaper in the Southern Hemisphere. Back to the Folau saga. There are a few comments I would make. Firstly, because he’s going to the courts on a “Unfair Dismissal” case, he only needs between $15k - $35k to fund his case. I heard that there’s about 12,000 unfair dismissal claims a year in Oz and the average cost is $15k-$20k, So I’ve added a bit on for Folau. It’s not a free speech case, so under his employment contract, it’s hard to see him winning. What’s the rest of the $2m he’s raised for??? Secondly, when he banked together in his sermon all the fornicators, liars, thieves, adulterers, atheists, idolators, gamblers, etc and homosexuals, he made one big error. Of all the Groups he named, all but one had a choice. One can decide not to be a thief, liar, adulterer, blasphemer, etc, but one doesn’t decide to be gay. It’s been proven that people are born gay. Gays don’t choose to be gay. The way some are carrying on about Folau’s rights are a shame. If he attacked people born with a disability it wouldn’t surprise if some would rejoice methinks! Let him have his views and let him be a real man and debate them in public, rather than hide behind the pulpit like tens of thousands of pedophile priests do. Religion has a lot to answer for in the modern world. All those filthy pedophile priests ( not gays - pedophiles)  can repent and go to heaven ffs, ie, that is according to Folau. Where do the poor kids go? Mental institutions, suicide etc. I believe there’s only one place pedos are going - in the ground as worm fodder or in the incinerator. Folau should lose his Unfair Dismissal case (and I think he will) and the rest of us can go on with our choices in life, be they punting, cursing, fornicating, jumping fences (takes two consenters to tango!) lying, thieving and not to mention gluttony when devouring more Bluff Oysters than one should.

Folau's prospects bolstered by landmark religious freedom ruling in Britain

Britain's second-highest court handed down a decision on religious freedom yesterday that will send chills down the collective spine of Rugby Australia. In contrast, Israel Folau and his team will be thanking God for divine providence that is akin to manna from heaven.

In Ngole v the University of Sheffield, the English Court of Appeal has decided: “The mere expression of religious views about sin does not necessarily connote discrimination.”

The factual similarities to Folau’s case are remarkable. Felix Ngole was a social work student at the University of Sheffield and a devout Christian. In 2014, he posted Bible verses about homosexuality on a public Facebook page as part of a political debate. Sheffield University accused Ngole of breaching a vague and broadly worded code of conduct.

Through a hearing and two committee appeals, various bureaucratic apparatchiks repeatedly incanted that quoting Bible verses constituted “views of a discriminatory nature” and breached professional guidelines.

As the British appeal court stated: “The university wrongly confused the expression of religious views with the notion of discrimination. The mere expression of views on theological grounds (e.g. that "homosexuality is a sin") does not necessarily connote that the person expressing such views will discriminate on such grounds.”

This lines up almost exactly with Folau’s case. Throughout his four-year ordeal, Ngole advised that he would never compromise his Christian beliefs. Ultimately, Sheffield University expelled him. A judge in Britain's High Court confirmed this decision.

However, the Court of Appeal disagreed and has found that the university discipline process was fundamentally flawed. The university took an entrenched position early on, adopted processes that lacked insight and imposed a sentence that lacked proportion.

This will be uncomfortable reading for Rugby Australia.

It’s not all bad news for the union. Decisions from Britain are not strictly binding on Australian courts, just instructive. Although difficult, the university might appeal to Britain's Supreme Court.

There are also plenty of differences between the two cases for Rugby Australia’s crack legal team to agitate in an attempt to blunt its force of application to Folau. It’s what lawyers do best and Rugby Australia has good lawyers.

There are other notable implications from this British decision for the Folau case. Ngole’s case took four long years before he finally obtained his vindication. Many have criticised Folau for raising such a big war chest of legal fees. His fundraising efforts may be both prescient and proportionate given that he might face a similar long, hard and expensive legal battle.

The appeal court also took a distinctively different approach compared with the original judge. While the lower court judge gave a “full and meticulous” judgment that navigated a maze of dense common law principles and cases, the justices on appeal went to the heart of the matter.

This was about a failure of common sense. At the outset of the matter in 2014, the university had overreached and overreacted. It effectively purported to restrict Ngole from expressing his religious views in any public forum. The implication was that a professional should only express controversial religious views in absolute privacy.

The court rightly pointed out that, if correct, no Christian would be secure in any profession, let alone Muslims, Hindus or Buddhists. Further, Ngole’s expulsion was disproportionate, given that the posts were expressions of religious and moral views that were based on the Bible.

This decision may resonate with an Australian court considering the termination of Folau, given our antipodean commitment to the Australian “fair go” for everyone.

Rugby Australia chairman Cameron Clyne has already trapped Rugby Australia on the wrong side of the ruck with his injudicious media comments, and he has dragged sponsors with him.

It isn't quite the end of the Ngole dispute. It's being remitted for a hearing before a new "fitness to practice" panel before the University of Sheffield. The appeal court said it could not "finally determine whether the appellant would have resisted the possibility of tempering the expression of his views or would have refused to accept guidance which would resolve the problem. This requires new findings of fact. This case should, therefore, be remitted for a new hearing before a differently constituted FTP Panel."

But the Ngole decision will sting like the opposition’s sprigs on the union’s back, adding to Folau’s pressure for an apology.

Folau and his team have reason to be buoyed by this decision. It is a season of miracles. Here is a timely success story of a devout Christian besting a censorious bureaucracy.

I saw that UK case Ted but I believe the case was different to Folau’s. Apart from being a hypocrite and not walking away from rugby ( as he promised to do if his religious views were unacceptable by RA ) he is in an employment dispute in breach of the games stated code of conduct. I’m sure the legal thieves will get there usual massive amounts of money, but in the end, each case is different and it will be interesting to see where it all ends up. His scripted answers in the media, provided by his PR Consultants, show him for what many think he really is - just another crazy from the religious swamp thrusting the old “fear” line preached by religion for hundreds of years. It’s ok to sin as long as you repent before you die then you’ll be saved! The hundreds of thousands of pedo priests are all going to heaven because they repented! What a load of bollocks. The circus continues!

Here's how I see it.

Rugby is a macho sport and as such an easy target for gay rights activists and anyone else who wants to have a go at them.

Rugby (in this case Rugby Australia) recognise this and wanting to be seen to be inclusive to all, (race, gender, sexuality etc), do their best to promote themselves as such.

Then their highest paid, poster boy, superstar comes out and says all homosexuals will go to hell unless they repent.

As much as RA would like to look the other way this "we are inclusive" vs "all homosexuals are off to hell" could not be allowed to go through to the keeper.

They'd asked he not say such utterings publicly; but he did. What were RA to do?

Israel's free to say these things from his pulpit, just not while wearing the Australian rugby jersey..

So why doesn't he just leave. He has the profile to continue to get his message across.

He doesn't "just leave" because of the money. It's all about the money $$$$$$$ and maintaining the lifestyle he's used too.
