CBT 82 Report post Posted April 10, 2019 Surprise surprise. Gone too soon to protect his stud value. He’ll stand for $77K in his first season.
Newmarket RC 209 Report post Posted April 10, 2019 Very wise move given the recent death of Redoutes Choice. Bad timing for Chris Waller losing 2 superstars in one week to the retirement paddock Red Rum

Would’ve loved to see him in a Cox Plate but not to be.

mckenzie 600 Report post Posted April 11, 2019 Seems steep for a horse that never won outside of 3 year old grade.

Agree with you way too much money at risk racing on with TAS , he's got shuttle potential up north with his breeding too. Ohokaman 5,763 Report post Posted April 11, 2019 It was inevitable after the loss of Redoute's Choice. They couldn't risk him getting beaten by some second rater. Winx goes this weekend and it looks like another two Quinton mares Daysee Doom and Dixie Blossoms will follow.
Trump 2,741 Report post Posted April 11, 2019 Messara recently stated he had 40 Mares waiting for him! And that’s Arrowfields own Mares. At $77k he will probably serve 180+ @ $77k, that’s min $14m in his first year!

Don't entirely disagree and I fully understand the $$$$ side of things as written by Trump but yes, top horse no doubt in age group races but I'd like to see these types of horse carry on for longer too. Some stallions will top up as they get older and may not perform the same which then could become a negative but they're heading to stud as three year olds when they have only had half a dozen races and still barely finished growing. Compare them to some of the top mares, Winx, Makybe Diva, Horlicks, Sunline who do a sterling job to six or seven year olds. Then again some top performing mares have dismal production records don't they? Obviously all dollar orientated.

WOODBINE 88 Report post Posted April 12, 2019 I believe that Brutal by O’Reilly would have been very competitive against the Autumn Sun over 1600m Redoubtes Choice raced on as a 4 year old and it is disappointing that his son will not Baz (NZ)
Fartoomuch 1,376 Report post Posted April 23, 2019 Speaking of Arrowfield how about these numbers for Snitzel " Snitzel is the most expensive stallion on the Arrowfield roster but stays at $220,000 after serving 172 mares at that price last season." If your talking money thats equal to just under 38 million if they were all payers which obviously they were not as stud would not be paying any cash. Dundeel goes up from 27.5K to 66K following Grp 1 victories by his progeny in 3 different countries. Easy to see why these Studs pay big money for anything promising despite the risk of failure at Stud

He's certainly in fashion big style . Horse called Sandmason went ok for Cecil , got sent to McEvoy in Australia and at one stage ran last in Melbourne Cup. Ended up here and only winner he got i think was horse trained over Coast. Someone brought him and got shipped to Ireland . Served a few seasons and got forgotten about . I think figures were he served something like 2 mares in 3 years . The first foals from Ireland matured and two real decent jumpers emerge , people were checking if he was still alive and owner drags him out paddock as mares queueing up and money starts rolling in . The old bugger was something like third most active stallion in Ireland last year.
