Welcome to another Saturday of great racing on both sides of the Tasman  

NZ OAKS DAY COMP : SATURDAY 16 MARCH

Comp Rules:

• Select a horse in each of the 10 comp races.  If the horse runs in the first 3 you get the following points
  • 1st     5
  • 2nd     3
  • 3rd     1
• If you select the winner of any of the 3 bonus races being the NZ Oaks, Coolmore Classic or All Star Mile, you will get triple points for that race.  Placings get normal (1 x) points. 
• Choose one of your selections as your Best Bet in any OTHER race than the three bonus races and you will receive 2 x any points earned.
• Scratchings go on to the TAB sub. 
• Entries Close at 2.49pm - 1 min before the scheduled start of the first race of the comp.
• Prize :   A $100 W/P bet on a single race.

No-one selected the first or second placegetter who were both paying double figures.  Plenty on fave Athiri and Wrinkles gains the biggest haul of 2 pts with a BB on the Godolphin runner.

1PRESIDENTGARY was the only one of the top five on a different runner (Athiri), with the other four on Probabeel, and takes over at the top of the table as we head into a bonus race next - 3 x winning points.

Flockofewes, Aaron Bidlake, Kloppite and Swoopa used their comp BB's on the Snowden 2YO by Deep Field out of the Commands mare Little Zeta and at the half way mark, even though we've had a bonus race with 15 pts up for grabs and a few BB's have been played, it's still a competitive go at the top of the table with no break away leader as yet.

Cabbage, orphanpete, Nearco and Memphis2 used their BBs on the Waller trained Zed filly which gave them a good boost up the ladder but the consistent talk also had the winner managing to just keep his nose in front.    talk and Nearco have put a nice 10pt gap on the rest of the field but that's only a BB on a winner and we still have two bonus races to go worth 15pts a piece.

Warren and Mainland Rookie had the Lees runner by Montjeu as their BB and through the scratching of 5 Libran, Thecaptain also earned 10pts off the lovely stayer.    The next two races are bonus races and there are some similar selections in the top group, could we see someone currently sitting in the low 20's and high teens, launch an attack for the top placings  ...

Only Seddon found the gorgeous girl by Street Sense out of a Star Way mare, Whistle Dixie who was bred in New Zealand and lovely to hear that she was purchased by the owner and with her he bred Dixie himself.   Lovely stuff   

Seddon, who has been round about all day, has pounced into the lead as we head into our last bonus race of the day ..  plenty more points still to be won..  good racing fortunes all ..

Only Peter R S and Memphis2 had faith in the Needs Further filly out of a NZ mare White Gold by Colombia and were gifted with 15 points a piece.   My wonderful Hartnell powered home once he found a path through for second and Alizee, what a run, it's great to see some of our fave horses feeling so good and running fantastic races.

A great finish to the last with Fifty Stars and Mask of Time fighting it out and with Widgee Turf winning earlier today and not running in the Ajax, Seddon's selection moved to the stunning 3YO by Sea The Stars out of a Sadler's Wells mare Swizzle Stick and Seddon's solid performance all day was rewarded with a win in the NZ Oaks Day Comp.  Shows you what a great selection Widgee Turf was also Seddon      talk and Memphis2 had strong showings and were gallant in defeat, both selecting the Hayes/Dabernig winner.

Well done to Warren, Nearco, Gary and Ohoka who were fighting it out at the top over the day but huge congratulations go to    Seddon         fantastic selecting over the ten races.

Thanks for the comp. First time I’ve come out on top after a couple of years trying. Biggest regret is I’m not really an e/w bettor as I could have had a great day. Only backed the popes horse Emily Margaret. Although Dixie Blossom made the quaddie for me at Rosehill . Thanks Kerry.
