Just watched Swiss Maestro run down the track with the easy winner going 1.10.8 Last start it bolted in at Trentham running 1.08.04........wouldn't have expected the rating rise to affect it that much....... waikeria 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2019 RACE 5 – The starter, Russell McAra, was questioned in relation to the positioning of the starting gates at the 1200 metres. After hearing from the starter, R McAra, and the Course Manager, Mr Wayne Stevens it was found that the gates had been positioned approximately 30 metres from the surveyed mark for the rail being in the true position today. This being rectified for the remaining 1200 metre races. Acting under NZTR Starters Manual Sub Section 4.4 the starting position of the gates - Mr McAra was spoken to advisedly and advised that at all times prior to a meeting he had to consult with the Course Manager to identify the correct survey marks. Stewards when assessing penalty took into account that Mr McAra’s assistant starter had been injured and taken to hospital earlier in the day.
