tim vince 985 Report post Posted January 21, 2019 being a junior in north- another race pulled at Cambridge- lack of entries. trainers should be finding a drive for their juniors. have there been any juniors licenced in the north this season.. cant blame the clubs if not enough. in years go by there would always be a few licenced on august 1. there will be a shortage of skilled help soon if there isn't now. what a post 811 Report post Posted January 22, 2019 Maybe the trainers and owners have been influenced by what's happened in the last couple of junior driver events in the north. Certainly off putting . . Do they have any sort of mentoring going on ?

eljay 1,717 Report post Posted January 22, 2019 Perhaps the trainers/drivers need address the situation first and look at such ogres that have crept into our system. Race conditions like "horses that have not won a juniors race" "discretion" "points for losing horses" "points for winners who have preciously won a juniors race" "PBD" - so the list goes on. Races for JD's need to be attractive for owners/trainers to start their horses in otherwise the status quo will continue. Do the clubs, handicappers, etc. have too much say in these conditions whereas trainers, have to take what's thrown at them? We certainly don't want a situation of "like it or lump it" but this appears to be the thinking that's creeping in. The sport (industry) needs to be an attractive option for young people not as appears to be be happening a dead end! Chris Wood 1,576 Report post Posted January 25, 2019 Don’t worry guys, galloping is in the same boat. At this very moment, without foreign labour in our code, Racing would struggle to exist! Pam Robson
