drewandjo 129 Report post Posted January 11, 2019 CHC invest in many areas outside of owning thoroughbreds and NZ was one of their first forays into horse ownership. They partner up with a lot of internationals as well as Coolmore - they are currently leading buyers at MM Gold Coast in partnership with Newgate. Maybe they wouldn't be interested in a track redevelopment as mentioned above, but maybe they would......this is just the forward type of thinking that needs to take place around the Messara report, instead of the normal doom and gloom that seems to permeate in our industry

If something gets up and running here good stuff but miles behind action at moment IMHO.
Breeder 609 Report post Posted January 11, 2019 It does not have to be the CHC. It could be a smaller investment group who maybe want to do something similar to the CHC but on a smaller scale and they need a centre for their horses. It does not need to be Chinese. The Indians are also kind on horse racing. If the NZ industry wants to progress it is quite obvious it cannot do it on it's own --we are too small and lack the money. If this was not the case then there would not be any of the current problems. So continuing to tinker around the edges will not cut it. It is time to think outside the normal "business model" and try to attract investment and alternate ideas from elsewhere. From what I have read about the Messara report (I have not read the whole report) it falls into the tinkering category. The thinking needs to be must further ahead.
